I got a stellar deal this weekend: a Devinci hybrid with XT rear mech, Deore shifters in top-notch mechanical condition for *drumroll* two hundred and fifty dollars (tax included). The model? Steve Bauer Bike Tours. They were at the show selling off some used bikes, but I swear, they have been really lightly used.

The only downside is that by the time I got to their booth they sold most of their bikes already (no wonder), and I got a model with a small frame, while I'd really prefer a medium. Riding it home from the show was not very comfortable - I just felt too cramped, my butt was sliding off the saddle. After getting home I pushed the saddle all the way back and flipped the stem. Rode it for 17 km today and it seems much better. I really hope I can make it work. It might be okay as it is now, or I might get a longer stem... But it's a sweeeet bike with a sweeeet ride.

I also got a pair of shoes, a pair of gloves and a jersey (and boy did I have to stand in a line to get them - Brown's Sport & Cycle had nearly an hour-long line-up!)

Anyone else score any great deals?

I got in home too late on Friday and didnt feel like waking up early Sat to go. Were there any good deals on fall/winter clothing? Prob not, but that is what I was interested in mainly.

Funny, that's what I came there for myself. But I didn't see a great array of such things, nor did I find any spectacular deals on what was there. All I got for the fall was a pair of full-fingered gloves.

What I'd really like to get is some water-resistant or (even better) waterproof pants with lots of zip-pockets. I love pockets, I love secure pockets, I love water restistance for the rain season. WHERE is all that stuff? SOMEBODY's got to make it, no? I didn't see any at the show though. Actually, the best item of clothing I saw at the show was being worn by one of the patrons. Kona MTB pants.

I didn't get any great deals on gear aside from one booth that had a lot of women's long sleeved jerseys for $30, and I picked up a Jamis Dakota Comp from a shop in Milton for ~$1000.

My step-dad got a really nice deal on a 2007 Aquila Crono Pro, $2000. Full Ultegra except cranks, can't remember what they were. He should be picking it up on Wednesday since the shop's building up a frame for him in his size.

I bought a Jamis Aurora for $720. Typical MSRP is about $1200 - $1300.

The downside is I was layed off two days after buying it. The upside is now I can go on tour !!

The show was a real zoo, and one needed a lot of patience to find and secure deals. I hate crowds, so I didn't last long. However, I picked up a nice basic bike computer (Cateye Velo 8) with heavy-duty cable for my folding bicycle for $14. There were lots of similar deals, and some even cheaper, but I liked the idea of the heavy-duty cable for my folding bike.

Picked up a KHS bike for my gf, and a Fizik Arione. Forgot to get her a new computer though. O well, no biggie.

Didn't find a great deal on a wheelset I was looking for, and didn't see too much in the way of road components, so i didn't go fighting the crowds to grab a new road bar.

I got there for when the doors opened, didn't find any rims I wanted (only one place seemed to have rims anyway) but I picked up some new shoes and some of the Ryders glasses from D'Ornellas (another ~30+ min. line up once the crowds built).

There was a lot of nice stuff there, though not much I could justify getting for myself

I felt it was even more of a zoo than in previous years. They need more space, and more people taking money/credit cards. I ended up with one pair of gloves, and a bad attitude.

As someone who is on layoff too, let me be the first to say congratulations. I am only 38, but I know now that I will love retirement! There is nothing healthier than being laid off - you get more sleep, eat better, have more time for exercise, and have less stress (provided you are financially ok). Once again, congratulations.

Well, I guess I won't hate your guts so much for snagging that great deal. I saw those same three Auroras and really debated whether or not to get the 53" but decided not to in the end.

As for the show, I spent over four hrs there and didn't get anything. Same as the year before. That's right...nothing, rien, nada, etc. Actually, that's not true...I picked up the flu bug. *cough* *cough*

I missed this one, but I will be going to the spring one and home they are selling some outdated road bikes cheap!
