My Wife's Girlie Bike....with pic

Picked this up for my wife for her birthday. Its a Ross 'eurotour' 26" from the 70's. The bike is kinda heavy, but it has a Shimano 3-speed hub and thumb shifter, and rides like a Cadillac. I spent the entire weekend overhauling the cup and cone bottom bracket, and the shifter, cleaning and re-lubing everything. She really likes this bike, and hopefully we can go on some nice, quiet rides together.

So what do you guys think?? The seat on it is the original Ross seat, and its big and comfortable.

Now that is really lovely. Can I be your second wife if you're going to give away nice bicycles like that
Those seats are good, - I've got one the same that I recovered with leather and it's just soooooo comfortable.

Thanks all

She's the only duck in my pond.

As for the bike, its old and solid, and about as heavy as a boat anchor, but it has chrome fenders and rims, and she loves it. Just a good 'ol 3-speed girls bike I knew she'd fall in love with. This bike is in good enough condition that restoring it wont be hard. Future plans are to repaint the frame a pretty red and put on a big nice Brooks seat with chrome springs and whitewall tires.

At least you have a pond....

Nice bike...reminds me of the Schwinn Breeze my sister had growing up. I had the Schwinn Racer. I learned to "wrench" on those bikes. And hammer and bang and cuss and....

Nice Ride! (and a chance to post yet another picture) Here is my Bride's Ride Bit 'o history on it. My wife is short as in 5'-1". We have had a hard time finding a bike that was comfortable for her to ride. She has a 16" GT Slipstream Hybrid that she rides but had some issues with the multiple gears. We attended the ABCE Tour in 2006 in New Brighton, MN. One of the door prizes was a 1972 Raleigh Colt...just her size! So here it is, I need to update the picture, she normally rides it with a wicker market basket on the front.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Old 3-speeds can be great fun for local rides.

I built up a 17" Ross Rock Machine mountain bike for my younger son, but now that he is 6'2" tall, I have told my wife it is hers, to replace the Peugeot UO-8 I originally built for her but converted to my commuter a few years ago.

Yeah, now thats a nice old Raleigh. Looks strikingly similar to my Wife's Ross.
