What did they do?? Decoupage it? That's actually an interesting idea...

I see similar frames(without the artwork) and they all seem to sell for much less. Is it the artwork or is there something mechanically specific about this frame that makes it worth more?

I don't really think it has to do with the frame at this point. They could've covered a mini-fridge with comics the same way, and inflated the value just as much.

Actually, I think I'll do that with my mini-fridge now.

I sent that link to a few of my cycling friends. We had the same questions. Maybe the shop has a reputation of selling really cool bikes. It is kind of a neat idea, though. AND the bikes do look pretty neat with the comics.

If you look at the feedback and check out some of the earlier Pop Art bikes they have had, they mention their process in a couple of earlier sales/descriptions. It really didn't seem too difficult to do the comics like they did. Still, I think it's a neat idea.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I didn't make that up.

When I get done with all my projects, I may pick up a little huffy and experiment. I think it would look really cool with rice paper and comix. Less busy, more asian.

Art. Art is worth what someone will pay for it. Its pretty neat, but not my taste.

You don't have to just use comix... You can decoupage many* things, even thin fabric. And it doesn't damage the bike any more than a rattle can finish would.

So what would one my frames that were painted by first graders fetch?

It would be really interesting if you put them up for sale to see! You could taught them as being done by a "respected local artist" or something like that. YOu never know with this sort of stuff. People who buy art can be funny. You ever see some of those modern art pieces that are priceless? some of them look like they were done by first graders!!!

I have seen several bikes finished this way and they do take a good amount of time to finish and are rather unique... my favourite was done with postage stamps.

I wonder if those guys know that some of the comics they used may have been worth more than the bike ?

I like it. wont pay that kind of price but may try making one. Fuji absolute , the one I had was made of single butted velolite tubinh and road good but nothing special . I was at the philadelphia art museum and saw a fork and tire mounted to a stand and thay called it art. I spun the wheel you should have seen the rucis that caused.

You spun the wheel on a Duchamp bicycle? I would imagine that would cause a code red security situation.
