SD North County Century - Rescheduled - Sat. March 22
Rescheduled from 3/16 to 3/22 due to weather.
This is a great ride covering some of the best areas of SD North County. The ride starts in Oceanside and heads down the coast to Solano Beach.
It turns east via Rancho Santa Fe/Del Dios to Escondido and continues out to Lilac Road, Couser Canyon and Rice Valley. It returns Oceanside via Fallbrook and Bonsall. I originally based it on an abbreviated version of the SD 200K brevet, but I asked Grumpy Pig to share some of this North County expertise to improve the route. So if the route sucks we can blame him.
When: Saturday, March 22
Where: Oceanside Amtrak Station Parking Lot, South Tremont Street, Oceanside
Start: Meet at 7:30, roll at 8:00
Route: https://www.geocities.com/grumpypig/O...de_Century.pdf
Elevation: 5-6K ft
Food: Post-ride pig-out in Oceanside TBD
Speak up boys and girls. Who's in?

Kim just phoned me to tell me about this ride, but I'll be flying back from Seattle late on Fri. evening, so I'll have to have my act together and be somewhat awake.
Which makes me a possible maybe. Chuck Bramwell has a ride up Palomar (and beyond) that day too so I have to decide. That one starts in Oceanside too.

Guys, I'll bail out. I feel better, but not 100% and I think a 100-miler will be too much. I think I'll do the club rides this weekend - shorter and closer to home. Sorry about that, I was really looking forward to this ride.

Today I drove over major portions of the route. I've done 6 centuries in the past 9 months, but this one is clearly out of my league. If I were 20 years younger and rode a bike that was great at climbing there'd be no question.
It is a beautiful ride, that's for sure. I hope you guys have a great time.

You bail you fail.
I haven't ridden since last Saturday, I'm fried from a stressful week at work and am probably not ready for this at all.
But I'm doing it anyway. I will see who materializes tomorrow AM and we'll go from there.
