Retro Raleigh Clubman / Path Racer - Whatever you wanna call it. (PICS)

Here she is:

Budget built.
Cheap Frame.
Rattle Canned.
Non-Period Correct.
Tacky Wheels.
Tons of Fun!!!

Sorry about the awkward pic angles. I didn't have too much time to take them. I will post some more shots shortly if anybody is interested.

*I almost forgot to thank the guys at Cycle Classics in Portsmouth Virginia. Gordon and James did a great job with the hard stuff for this build.(headset, bottom bracket, Chainline)

Cycle Classics = Best little bike shop in Hampton Roads!

Wow, great job. I wish my budget builds could look like that!

I don't think the wheels look bad at all. Perfectly strong for the pothole-filled country path en route the velodrome!

thanks,
I call it my "budget build" only because I had most of the parts just laying around.

Bikes: See my sig...

Good lord almighty that is beautiful... love the work on the cranks to make them shine like that and if it was mine I'd be taping and shellacking the bars instead of using the grips.

Non period correct? If that thing had slacker angles, it would easily pass for a 30's machine. Great job.

BTW, which Raleigh USA frameset is under all of that? I'm guessing a Sportif, for I believe everything above that had Raleigh engraved seatstay caps.

Thanks again everyone...

Here's sorta what the frame looked like before the build. Snagged the pic off the net but mine was very similar in condition. Mine is just smaller.

I should have known it was a Capri. What year? '84, '85 or '86?

Nice build!

Looks like a great use for a Capri!

that is a really cool bike, are those just flipped north road bars? did you have to shim them at all?
also what rear hub did you use? i like the flip-flop hub. looks like a really fun bike, great job putting it together!

Why do keep your Campagnolo parts in a vegetable crisper? I mean, I know room temperature is good, but fridge temperature?...

It is a plexiglass display case.

Nope. Those are Lauterwasser bars. They have a stem clamp size of 23.8mm so I had to get it shimmed.

I like it a lot!

Is that an adjuster from a Mafac lever mounted on the front hanger?

Bikes: I've lost count.

Nice build. I wish I had some Lauterwasser bars just "lying around", I'm green with envy.

I agree with Sixty Fiver, that the bike would look better with taped bars rather than the grips.

How does it ride?
