Dunlap Tandem TT
RR and I did the Dunlap TT today. 31k from Davis down to Dixon and back. Last year the race was really close to our house and rode to the start to warm up. This year we drove. One of our team mates lives just .4 miles down along the course from the start. It made for a great staging area and we didn't have to deal with all the crowds at the staging. The course is pretty flat but there is always wind to contend with so that the first 10 miles is pretty much against the wind. Today wasn't as bad as last Monday when we did the course to practice. That day the wind was sustained at 24 with gusts to 39. Today it was probably no more than 12 to 18 with a few gusts. Last year was our first race ever and we averaged about 22mph and there was little wind. This year we finished the 19K in 48:30:82 or about 23.8mph. I was pleased with our results as Red Rider has been racing and is in pretty good shape while I have not been getting near the bike time as her. Last year we got beat by 11 minutes. This year by less than 6 minutes. Less than 5 by last years first place. All in all it was a very good day for our team.

Velodiva and Hermes were there on their gorgeous new single bike porn. They will have to tell your their results.

Congrats RR and CG...you guys looked great today and performed very well. I definitely liked the other race venue better. This year the staging area was in a nice park but you had to park on dirt / weeds / stones. However, comparing and contrasting Dunlap to next week at Sattley, this venue is palatial.

Hi cgallagh,
Nice improvement in your time.
One of these days I'm going to have to try a tandem TT. A buddy of mine wants me to do one with him at the SoCal Senior Olympics next week. We'll see.

Note to self: Don't look straight down.
Cleave: Do it! You'll have so much fun!
Maybe next year we'll be in shape for the Senior Olympics and/or the Sattley TT.
This year we're happy with what we've done...and the season is still young.
Thanks for posting the pic, V'Diva.
