First 1000 miles, Specialized City6 IG8
Four tanks worth of gasoline later and a brief update of how my bike has evolved.

This is a 2008 Specialized City 6 IG8, 58cm frame, purchased in January.
Problems: Around 350 miles, the bottom bracket loosened up. My bike shop repaired it without charge and it's been good since. 650 miles, a rear wheel broken spoke. A number of other spokes looked stressed, so I decided to purchase all new (better quality) spokes, hand built and tuned by the bike shop. Front wheel doesn't have to endure as much stress and seems fine. As the bike has broken in, the cables have needed occasional adjusting for brake pad wear and cable stretching. I replaced the original pedals with Shimano dual side spd pedals (one side clicks in-the other for regular shoes). I replaced the original bike bell with an Incredibell.
Pluses: Bike looks good, gets compliments from people and is proving to be a good bike for my short 18 mile round trip commute. I'm 5'11" at 210 lbs, the 58cm frame is right for me. The bike weighs in at 33 lbs, minus the trunk bag which comes in at 7 lbs with all the stuff in it. The generator hub and lights work great. Front light actually provides enough light for seeing the road and the rear light (constant) stays on at a stop because of a capacitor in the light. Front light dims and goes out, but quickly gets to full brightness without much speed. Fenders are quiet. The rear fender is shaped to allow the bike to be brought upright, without hitting the fender on the floor.
Items purchased for it: Besides the spokes, I purchased the Incredibell, Cateye Cordless computer, Cateye front flashing light, Vista Rear flashing light, a bottle cage, Kryptonite Evlolution Mini bike lock with additional 4' Kryptonite loop cable and 2' small seat cable, Axiom Columbus trunk bag w/fold down panniers, various tire repair tools, Specialized bike pump and Specialzed Sonoma SPD bike shoes.
Bike is doing good and I enjoy riding it. A couple of setbacks, but I feel good about my purchase. Riding a 40 pound bike 4 days a week has improved my weekend road biking. My legs are stronger and riding a 20 pound road bike is much easier now, better hill climbing and faster pacing.
