What kind of racing wheel set do I have?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What kind of racing wheel set do I have?

Got these today at a garage sale. The previous owner called them "a proper set of racing wheels" and they looked good. For the asking price, it was well worth the gamble.

Size of the tires is 26 X 0.75

Never seen those hubs before, but the rims (Sun M14A) were pretty nice rims in the early 90's. Very light if I recall. Are you sure the tires are 26? If so, they won't fit a standard size road bike, but they look like 700c to me (although pics can be deceiving). Anyway, a little outdated but race worthy and definitely road worthy.

These are definitely 26" rims. I put them up next to the wheels on my Trek 1200 and you can tell they are not 700c. They are 32 spoked wheels as well. The rear cassette has ULTRAGLIDE on it and the tooth count goes from 12 to 21 in 8 gears.

As they will not fit the Trek 730 I'm rebuilding for the wife, I'm going to sell them as soon as I get a popped spoke fixed.

Unfortunately, 26" road wheels aren't worth much on the used market, but since it sounds like you got a real steal on them, you will probably still come out ahead.

Those look like time trial/triathalon/funny bike/little person wheels to me. They'd be fast for the right person (small, with small road bike) or bike (Kestral TT, Terry,...).

I hope the asking price wasn't much. 26" wheels are pretty much useless for a standard road bike, and they're right size/wrong application for a mountain bike.

Bikes: looks like a specialized crux now

i had a 80's tri bike with sun m14a's on it.

feather light. but they developed stress cracks around the holes after a bit, but they were cheap and worth the risk
