My new Colnago CX...maybe????
Since I just sold a couple of frame sets and and a few components this week, I gave myself the go ahead to buy this new bike. It was advertised as a Colnago CX, but the pictures really didn't help. First it has no Colnago decals. And the headbadge is from a local bike shop, not Colnago. So, I still made the 45 minute trip to check it out and it was worth it. It's definitely a Colnago. As far as the decals are concern, the guy I bought it is the original owner and told me that's how he bought it. The bike shop received the frame set with out decals and applied only their headbadge and put what ever components the buyer wished/could afford. Thankfully, he chose Campy components. Now, the fork is the only part of the whole bike that says "CX". I've seen some other Colnagos CX bikes but with "ovalized" tubing. Mine is just normal tubing. So, were some CX models made with just plain "normal" tubing, while other made with that special tubing? My favorite part of this bike has to be the seatpost.
Not too fancy but it's really cool looking. Well, here is more fuel for you guys to hate me and my ever ending build-up of bikes. It'll soon end though, since we will be moving back to the states early next year.
I'm going to have it repainted in the states to a Candy Red color so I can have a Blue Colnago and a red one. The color now just doesn't do it for me. Any info you guys have please share. I'm thinking it's early eighties based on the RD with a Patent of '83 and the paint job. Am I in the ball park? Also, is this a CX? The original owner swears it a CX and that the fork is the original one. I have no reason not to believe him, since he has 4 other Colnagos from that same era and another one just like this one that is relegated to a trainer.

Well, it's not an Oval CX but that fork also appeared on the Profil CX. The paint screams 1989 but I thought the Profil CX was earlier. My guess is it's a Profil CX but I don't know about the date.

Thanks. Do you know when the Profil CX was started? I search on the Bulgier site but only saw the Oval CX.
