Ugh...Jersey Selection for us Big Guys, Where?
So where do us larger folks buy Jerseys that don't make us feel like we're wrapped tight in plastic wrap? I'm 5'7 203 lbs. My torso is like a tree trunk. Every Jersey I try on feels like I'm supposed to be 150lbs and joining the Tour De France. I've bought XXL and still 90% of them feel like they are for maybe 175 lb guys then.
I got lucky and my LBS Jersey fits nice. Just like I would expect one to fit. Basically a snug T-Shirt. Every other Jersey feels like I'm trying to squeeze in to a Small or Medium when I wear an Xtra Large (even when the Jersey says XL or XXL). I've tried every bike shop in the area and feel extremly frustrated. Sizing charts online and in the shop are so far off....
Please help...

I was at REI in Minneapolis yesterday and they had 3X and 4X jerseys on clearance. You might check there on-line catalog.

Lou Binik would be more than happy to make you a custom jersey for the fall and winter.
As you may have guessed, i am a very satisfied customer (6'3....260)

I've been pretty pleased with my Primal Wear jerseys. The sizing information on their website is spot-on. It recommended a size XL for me, which fits great! The jersey is just loose enough that you don't feel like a sausage, but not so loose that it blows around. The pockets are easy to get into and deep enough that you're unlikely to lose anything out of them. I'd suggest buying based on the waist and chest measurements in their sizing chart, rather than just the weight or height. In my case, weight, waist, and chest all indicated XL even though height suggested Large. Having previously tried a Large at the LBS, I knew it made me look like a sausage and ordered XL.

Yea some of those XL jerseys are actually France or Italy XL that run a size smaller then what we are used to in the US. I have 2 jerseys 2 different brands and both are XL one fits great while the other is super tight. Although its not a big deal for me as I am still fairly slender even at 210. But I do like the looser fitting jersey.

I've had a thought to make a custom 'clydesdale' logo jersey as a joke.
In a former life I was a graphic artist and I used to do the artwork for an Australian company that does a small number of sublimated cycling jerseys.
Minimum order would be 10 jerseys, about $100 Australian dollars (about $75 US at moment, but that's changing daily!), but I might get it cheaper since I know the company well. Your price is cost plus postage.
There is a beer brand in AUS called Carlton Draught. They have always had clydesdale draft horses as part of their logo and branding. Thought I might re-work their current horse artwork a bit.
Any interest? Any ideas?

tomdaniels - I'll get back to you with some sizing info about the bigger sizes they make (or can make on requests). Will start to work on the design in my enormous amount of free time!

The company I used to do work for does not, sadly, do any larger sizes. They do an XL that fits me (220lb, 6ft), but I'm not really a big guy compared to some of you lads. They can do a size a little bigger, but they have not developed patterns that would suit some of the bigger guys here.
SO...this design is 'open' for all to use. If you can find a company to make it, I'll get the artwork ready for you to use.
This is a basic start with the clydesdale horses and some colour selection only. Can people please give me some feedback and also some suggestions? Let me know how you want the colour or pattern to work, or if you have some text that might work - anything. Let's workshop this baby!

Just in case you are not used to looking at patterns, you are looking at the front and back, arms, pocket, side panels and a collar.

Perhaps we could organise a group order if we wanted our own design? One of the companies that makes the jerseys for this site also does custom.

LL Bean's Comfort Cycling Jersey is great. Wear an XL?...Then order an XL. And you don't have to look like a circus clown or NASCAR driver. Go to llbean.com> Outdoor Gear - Hunt/Fish > Cycling .

I actually buy my "jerseys" at wal mart. They aren't true cycling jerseys, but they do sell nice polyester wicking type tops that work great for me. They are sold under the Starter brand, and also Athletic House. Most of the styles are offered in sizes up to 3XL, and they are very generously cut. Several weights and styles are offerd, both in long sleeve , short sleeve and sleveless. Probably the best part is the price. Usually in the $8 - $15. Many of them are comparable to jerseys selling for up to $80 in cycling catalogs. In addition, they also offer compression shirts and shorts [like the UnderArmour stuff] tights, running shorts, etc.

Twin-Six makes great jerseys without the same old neon color choices.
Here's their sizing chart, up to XXXL. I'm 6'4" and 245 and the XXL fits me great.

I support the Aerotech of LL Bean stuff, too. I got some LL Bean women jersey's back in Sept. on sale for $19!! They're great--fit good, look nice. Quality stuff. I've also ordered from Aerotech--same good quality, fast fast fast service.

Borah makes jerseys up to 4X. And that's REAL 4X. I have a 52 inch chest, and the 3X is big on me. As mentioned, Aerotech has large sizes as well.

For cycling jackets/rain jackets, check out Showers Pass. Their 2X is a 53-55 inch chest.

JonnyHK,
I am definately in for one of those custom Clyde jerseys. I have been thinking alot about text that can go on the jersey. Here are some ideas....
Front or Arm
- Biggest Stud on the Road
- Sixpack? We carry kegs! or Who needs a six pack when you have a keg?
- Size Matters
Back
- If you can read this, you are drafting a Clydesdale
- Welcome to the draft party. Follow my lead.
