How about an off road BF NorCal ride(Anything that can go offroad Welcome...MTB/CX/Tricycles). I Suggest Constant Rider as "Ride Leader" I wouldn't mind doing his last off road ride, but include trail down to Alpine.
I'll be on a SS heavy off road bike, so I'll be the "Fat Guy"
October 11th 8:45 Velo Rouge cafe/ 9:30 GGBridge

I won't be on a single-speed if I'm on my CX bike. I guess I could just not shift.

I think a good first-time route would be Old Railroad Grade Fire Road to the top of Tam, then East Ridgecrest (paved) to Rock Springs Fire Road to Laurel Glen Fire Road. Laurel Glen dumps you out in the middle of the Seven Sisters, from where we'd take the road down to Alpine Dam.

What size tires did you put on your bike, Pete?

Looks like the 11th will be the choice date so far...This will be great!

If you can't do the whole ride, there are places you could shorten. Here they are, fastest/shortest option first:
1) Ride with us up Railroad Grade to West Point Inn, then turn left on Old Stage Road (which is a gravel fireroad, then a paved path.) Old Stage eventually takes you to Pantoll Ranger Station, where you can then take Panoramic/Highway One back to Sausalito.
2) Ride with us all the way up Railroad Grade to the top of Tam, then from there take roads (East Ridgecrest/Pantoll/Panoramic/Highway One) back to Sausalito. (We'd also be taking the road for part of this way, but then splitting off on a trailhead before reaching the Rock Springs parking lot.)
3) Ride with us to the top of Tam, then on Rock Springs/Laurel Glen Fireroads, but then when we reach Ridgecrest in the middle of the Seven Sisters, head south (and ultimately back to Pantoll) instead of north toward Alpine Dam (which is the way you'd go if you were doing the complete route.)

Cool. I'll play it by ear when I turn back. I just need to be at my niece's b-day party in the afternoon so back to GGB by 12:00-12:30 should be good.

I can't make it tomorrow but hopefully some other weekend I can make it out with you guys and get all mudded up. Although, I'm not in particularly great shape so it'd have to be more of a laid back dead slug type ride. Then I can dust off the K2 Proflex 5000, in yellow no less, and be a junior/slower taxi!
And Henry, one day I'll get to ride with you man!
Have fun!

Great Ride, great group of fellas too.
Thanks to Greg for all the Mt. Tam expertise.
Thanks to Pete for the "getting all bike messenger up in here" rapid escort to the
embarcadero Bart.
Funny note: my day of rough terrain and near wrecks was not over when I got to Bart. I got both tires stuck in some trolley tracks and the bike came to a grinding halt in the middle of Market St.
I almost fell over before I figured out what the heck was happening and unclipped. What a nimrod!
I had a fabulous time thanks everyone who came, Carlos and Henry too!
