Giro De Vino - Nov 2nd

Anyone doing this ride next Sunday? Starting and ending in Acampo, it's pretty much the last close-in organized ride of the "season". It's a very easy, flat metric whose main feature is winery stops along the way.

I'll be there, along with Bikingshearer and Blankcrows.

As of right now, the forecast is 30% chance of rain. I'm preregistered, which means I"m on the hook for $50. Sooooooooo........ unless it's pouring when I leave here, I'll at least go out to the start and make my decision then.

Short answer - definitely a maybe.

Why - you looking for a commitment so you can tag along?

It's tempting but I bailed on the last George ride so, I'm committed to this one.

Have fun though...At this point with all these century's you'll probably be soaring past your 15,000 mark

Hey guys, it's not Georges' ride on Saturday, it's Richard's ride. Richard (Beaker) is leading it, it's close to the route I lead a month ago but this one starts in Orinda.
I will be there though.

Hmmmmm...... yeah. Maybe I'll build out the CIOCC. After all, I just don't have enough bikes hanging around.

Looks like it will be a long wet weekend, with the rain starting Thursday night and continuing into next week.

Since I teach Spinning taking a class is kind of a bus man's holiday -- I'd as soon set up my trainer and my iPod with my small but booming speakers, and ride to my musical version of Foxy's.

Yeah, the lack of a front row is kind of a drag...

This was a nice close-out of the "official" supported ride season for me. From now till February, the supported and sponsored rides close to home go on hiatus, so it's catch-as-catch-can for the foreseeable future.

Bikingshearer came to collect me at around 6:30am, and we cruised on out towards Lodi under leaden skies and swirling mist.

When we arrived and hooked up with Blankcrows, it was bluebird weather with very little cloud coverage and mild temps. We ditched the jackets and warmers, and took off in basic shorts/jersey/undershirt configuration. Even though the clouds began to bunch up all day long, we made a very good call and enjoyed some very nice November riding weather.

This ride is a metric, and other than a few rollers here and there it is a flat ride. The theme is "Winery Tour", and while we didn't do any tasting it was a lot of fun to zip from winery to winery and enjoy the scenery.

Somewhere in mid-ride I grabbed a tandem wheel and got sucked into a Nantucket Sleigh Ride for several miles before we turned into the lunch stop. That was fun.

Other than that, not too much else to report on this one. The ride was well supported, the scenery was decent, and the company was grand. It was a good time all around, and I'm glad I didn't listen to the weatherman and stay in bed.
