Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good lord. Do you not notice slight discomfort while riding? Have you ever seen another bike before?

since you asked, I think it's a stupid idea and the reason you probably wan to replace them is because, as others have pointed out, you current bar setup is fail. Did you adjust it to be like that, or did you buy the bike that way?

Luke, welcome to the forum. You are sure to get quite a few interesting comments regarding your photos. If you were sincere with your question, I'd suggest you look at some of the other photos of bikes on this site. Adjust your handlebars to look like the others you see, and give that a try for a while. If that doesn't work, I'd highly recommend bullhorn bars with the horns facing skyward.

Might as well get the horns - its obvious you don't use the drops. Plus, chicks dig horns.

Aww come on man. If you jump in a tank of pirañas' you have to expect a few bites

They're not called the road nazi's around here for nothing and suggesting putting some bullhorns on a road bike is a BAD way to start. Tilt the bars up so that the bottom of the drops is level with the ground to start with and see how you go.

My friend, you can consider yourself lucky . . . these were the gentler souls that commented so far.

First thing you need do is read the Road Cycling Introduction, as dcbikeguy and bdcheung have suggested, so that you are forewarned and fore-armed.

Next consider Paul Barnard's suggestions.

Finally, get some thicker skin . . . this is the internet after all.

I know you are all really nice guys, so what's with the hostility to the new guy? Are you taking testosterone supplements along with the matudinal coffee intake?

Yeah, it's a little soon for initiation. Geeze come on. Give the guy a break. You all were new once. Unless some of you were born with a bike between their legs. (and that had to hurt momma!)

Hey EH....watch them get all mad at US now. *snicker*
