Enjoy the pics. *=bar tape, tires and cable inner wires have been changed.

Left crankarm date code E(May) 78 indicate its a late '78 or early '79 model. All other codes precede the left crank code.

Frame decal indicates 'Made in Mexico'.

Looks great! I'd not hesitate to put a higher quality tire on. For budget/performance I really like the Serfas Seca tires. They are higher pressure and lighter than the standard cheap gumwall. They are less puncture resistant than the continental gatorskin tires but offer a pretty comparable ride.

Gatorskins also come in the 27 inch format. Really I think the Serfas tires are pretty good. Enjoy the ride. I am a big fan of those suntour derailleurs. The front derailleur is low on the totem poll but the front cage being so thick is hard to bend.

Have fun.

The rims are not hook bead so high pressure is out of the question.

Bikes: Upright and Recumbent....too many to list, mostly Vintage.

Is this a quick release of some kind on the Brake Cable Stops? I see its on the front too. Pretty cool.

Bikes: I hate bikes!

What tubing is made from? I just picked up a red and black windsor that looks like this but has no model name on it.....

I also started a Windsor thread last week, and really need to shoot pictures of my red and black Carrera Sport.
Again, mine is made in Japan, and has simple, painted lugs, side pull DiaCompe 500 brakes, etc.

sorry (maybe) to revive an old thread, but do you have pictures of the frame stickers on your Carrera? I just picked up what I think is the same bike...maybe a few years older & not in as nice condition. I needed 'rescue'..what can I say? Mine seems to have all of the original stickers intact, was made in Mexico and has what looks like a build date on one of the stickers. I'll try to post pics to compare. I think I'll enjoy mine with it's natural "patina"...not a restoration. I like the bar end shifters and interesting ('70s take on a compact double) gearing.
