Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

More Photographs from Navajo Country

My brother and I prepare for our ride along the southern rim of Canyon de Chelly.

"Rez" dog.

White House Ruins, where the Anasazi - The Ancient Ones - lived and then from where they somewhat mysteriously disappeared, eight centuries ago.

Spider Rock - the light on the Navajo landmark was awesome.

Looking toward the sandstone base of the Lukachukai Mountains. This is the photo that started off this thread.

After a hard climb up the road into the Lukachukai Mountains, this is the view from Buffalo Pass, with sacred Shiprock, in New Mexico, in the background.

Navajo pottery.

A Navajo artisan at Canyon de Chelly National Monument.

At the Round Rock Trading Post.
A Hualapai Indian with elk antlers, in the little community of Peach Springs, AZ, along Route 66.

This is what makes the Road Forum enjoyable. Thank you for those pics.

My in-laws used to live in Dove Creek, CO. We took several trips into NM and AZ; saw the white house ruins and Ship Rock, among other sights. Amazing views.

And your dog is cute, too.

If that picture doesn't make you want to get out and ride, nothing will.

Great shots.
