Diablo Sunday!

Looks like there is a good chance that I'll be out on Sunday morning to climb Diablo. I don't have details yet. They're being worked out by another. When I have them, I'll post.

Anyone interested in joining in for a Sunday morning climb?

Given that the Bay Bridge will be closed, there might be a lot more people on BART.

Not sure if I can make it yet (I am normally on kiddo duty on Sundays), but it'd be good to get up the Devil's hill again. Need to get a few more climbs in before Oct 4th.

It's not hard until the last 500 meters or so. Then it gets hard. Just find a comfortable gear and plod along at your own pace.

So long as you have some familiarity with hill climbing you should be fine - it's mostly about sticking with it and planning on a climb that will last >1h or so depending upon your speed. Generally South Gate is seen as easier than North Gate - I think mostly due to there being more shade and a flat section after the park gate on the South Side. If you're uncertain about being able to make it, try for the junction with comes at 7miles and ~2000ft elevation. Summit Road is a little bit steeper, and of course the infamous wall is short but quite steep. The views are superb and it's probably still my favourite descent.

Hey Joel, Yvette's rounding up 2-3 people from the Folsom area. I have no idea why, but she tentatively wants to meet at the In&Out on Sunrise @ 7:00AM Sunday. I have room for one more bike & rider. I drive an Isuzu Rodeo. If you want me to pick you up on the way, that's good. Or if anyone else that you know of needs a lift, that's good too. Let me know. I'll talk to her again Sat. to finalize plans. In&Out??? I told you that girl cracks me up.

Sounds good. Count me in for that extra seat. Where are we starting from? N or S? I haven't ridden it yet from the N. side. Interested in a longer ride on Monday?

I'll send you a PM tomorrow with my address/directions. I'm about a mile off the Mather Field exit from 50.

I have too much to do Sunday, but I'm still wondering if i can shoehorn this in. I might if it's early enough. Is there a time, or even starting place yet?

At the moment, I know we're going to be leaving here around 7am, which puts us there at 9. The rest I'm still waiting to hear about.

Ok, I've been given the go-ahead to arrange the ride. So, we'll meet up at the Athenian School for a ride up from South Gate. 9am. Let me know if you'll be there.

Darn it, the 9 leaving won't work for me. Sorry I'm missing this.
