RIP to a great teacher
sorry if this is cross posted.
I can't even fathom what has happened to my favourite teacher in high school he got into a hit and run.
I heard about it yesterday and today when I woke up from my alarm going off this is the story I woke up to.
https://www.oregonlive.com/news/index...vancouver.html
i hate that street. i hate vancouver. i think i hate everything right now
what can i do? i feel like i could cry for days and days and punch a hole in walls.
he made me enjoy waking up at 6 in the morning and look forward to school and science.
He always waved at me when I was on the school bus and he was on his bike wearing his bright rain gear.
And in the halls he would give me high fives and skip in the hall and sing the Mr. Roger's theme song.
aww. oh what a shame.
RIP

Sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was a great guy and a true loss to the community.
Sounds like it's your first such loss. That's the hardest to deal with. You might want to organize a ride around the High School in his honor, a biking fundraiser, an event to make motorists more aware of bicyclists or something like that. It's more productive than punching walls.

Awful story. I looked at the google maps and there is a bike lane there. My guess is the driver was probably texting and drifted into him. The driver probably saw him and thought, "Oh he must be safe in that bike lane and I have full confidence in my abilities to drive in a straight line while multi-tasking ". Sadly this happens all too often, hence my opposition to bike lanes...

Happened about a mile from my house; makes me ****ing sick. I do wish that some outside ocurrence would slap this dumbassed redneck country of ours into an immediate change of transportation mode--a Saudi dissident blowing up a major oil refinery, for instance.

Also if oil did become outrageously expensive, we would find electric cars would come on line very very quickly, with natural gas as a back up.
This is a country that has been developed around the motor vehicle, and I have a feeling that until that notion changes, there will be some form of motor vehicle dominating our lives and streets.
The only thing that may change that picture might be the coming of autonomous vehicles... wherein computers do the thinking, vice humans... when that happens, then the risks associated with "sharing the road" should decrease dramatically... and whole new cultures and new answers to issues involved around the motor car will occur.

I feel sick. My mom wonders if he hit him on purpose but I don't know, Cellestine probably didn't know it was him from behind?
"front-end and windshield damage"

windshield damage? and he still didn't stop.
I don't want this man to be free. He should stay where he is suppose to be.
I think about this everyday and it upsets me very much.

I don't believe this at all.
I feel like this does not have anything to do with turning your life around.
Oh, and, driving with a suspended license and no insurance. awesome.

"I do feel sorry for the teacher's family that got hit, but it’s really a loss for both families," said Lozensky."
I hate statements like this, especially when the victim is dead and a dirt bag law breaker only faces a short time in jail (at most).

Teachers embody this to us by their teachings. How to live, survive, pass on the world to those after us. If you remember this you'll feel the loss but you will never feel lost.
This is the lesson of life. I'm sorry that you lost such a great person. Go out and spread his example each day. He lives through those he touched.
