Diablo Saturday!

My wife has been interested in climbing Diablo, and we found a sitter for Saturday, so it's climb Diablo day!

I figure we'll do South Gate, as it's a bit easier on the lower leg. Meet at the Athenian school around 9 - 9:15 am. I think we're going to park in Danville and ride over for a warm up. Hope to be in Danville by 8:30 or so, pending traffic, etc.

Anyone interested in joining us for her first ride up the Devil Mountain?

Hey Joel, believe or not I may try to make this ride. Can't guarantee it, but there's an outside chance. I haven't been up to, or able to ride lately, so I'd like to try to get back in the groove. If I don't make it have a good ride though.

I'm probably going to regret this (only because I've been climbing so bad lately it seems like) but I am a huge maybe for this ride. I am just itching to get out of sac for a day and diablo is something I've been wanting to try for a while. I was also thinking about riding around lake tahoe (75mi w/ 4600ft) but I don't feel like doing it alone. So right now I am about 75% on doing diablo with you guys, I'll let you know for sure in a day or two.

btw- Joel I have 2 bike racks and enough room in the back for 1 more bike if you guys want to carpool. If it's something you're interested in I would be happy to pick you guys up.

If you can do 3 bikes, that would be great!

Not at all. I'll be riding up with Bess and she's not a fast climber. I expect we'll be motoring along at a slow and pokey type pace.

There's a better-than-average chance that Chris and I will join you. We're going to try to weasel out of working.

Where in Danville are you planning to park? We'd like to meet you there.

Anthoni, no room in the car. We're riding with Shiz. If he can't make it, I think we can make room for you.

We're planning to park on the street on Danville Blvd, just S of El Cerro. That'll give us an easy warm up ride to get to the Athenian School. Planning to be there and ready to go by 8:45 (pending traffic, dropping off the kids, etc.). That'll give us plenty of time to get to the Athenian by 9/9:15.

Ya go ahead and definitely count me in for this. Sorry Anthoni, I only have room for 3 people and 3 bikes (including myself.) If I had the room I would be more than willing to give you a ride. Joel send me a PM whenever you get a chance and we'll work out the details.

Sending a PM. We ought to work out a way to get Anthoni down there. I think he could climb it in under an hour.

i got the new frame set up .......did it in about 1hour ...i have some shimano components on it still i haven't taken off yet and swaped for my lovely sun tour superbe pro yet .... except the crank i have grown attached to myn at the peddle

i think though the next thing will be shifting levers there sti/friction down tube levers and i have them both in friction now (to accommodate my 53T big ring and my 8 speed cassette in the back)

im going on a ride with bike hikers tomorrow so we will see what needs to be switch and what is just fine the way it is

new frame is awsome thursday night we went with a tandom down gold river road we hit 32 mph in some places and i was able to keep my line much better then with the bent frame ...still slowly changing out parts on it for what i want so far i have wheels my crank back derailer stem and handle bars and breaks on it from the old bike

i also might have a line on some parts to lighten up the bike also went to the shop and it weighted in at 22.5lbs but i may be getting some carbon forks handlebars crank break/shifters(durace) but there some what free so i'm very happy i feel like a kid on chrismas morning

Well, phooey, we both have to work tomorrow.

We were looking forward to this as we need the hills for our tandem trip next week.

Cr*p. Can you tell how bummed I am?

Have fun, y'all. We'll join you on another ride.

Nice riding with you today. Sorry I had to leave early but I wanted to get back home before the heat kicked in. I failed miserably and It was nasty hot on the way back to Livermore and as a result I ran out of water. I was pretty cooked by the time I got home.
I took some video of the ride today but I cant import it into my video editing software. Dagnabit.
