No More Sherpas?!?
I was just visiting the Rocky Mountain website - apparently updated to showcase their 2010 models. To my dismay, the Sherpa is no longer listed, neither the Sherpa 10 nor the Sherpa 30. Que pasa? They have a new bike in their "Urban" section: the Metropolis SEA. Looks like an all-aluminum frameset with disc brakes and a Tiagra drive train. I'm sure it's a nice bike, but a poor substitute for the Sherpa, IMHO. Oh well, maybe good news is bad news; there might be some great deals on the leftover 2009 models! Get 'em while their hot.
Here's the new bike: https://www.bikes.com/main+en+01_102+...ID=3&SCATID=27

Hmm. It looks like they are dumping steel as a material for frames. I had heard that they are now having frames produced overseas. I had heard that they couldn't compete with the wages local welders were getting from the oil industry. Maybe, they didn't feel they could compete with the cheaper LHT.
As far as I can tell, there were a "fair number" of discounted 2008 Sherpas available well-into 2009 (maybe, even still).
It's possible that these things are related.
