WTF, how is he going so fast and not losing traction or anything? I went over some roots today, at just the slightest slant, my back tire would kick out a little bit. Granted it was slick and raining, but wouldn't do it even just a little bit on a dry course? Seeing that vid. freaks me out, I just don't understand how you can go so fast over a rough terrain, and not lose traction. I have a headache now.

Hate the burst everyones bubble but that video is double speed. Don't get me wrong dude has mad skillz but if you watch the video carefully his movements are waay to choppy and he was taking turns like he was on rails there was about a minute of real time on tha video rest was sped up.
Again dude is a bad ass and he can definitely shred but I wish he had posted the real video.

No, not fake. Just really, really skilled.

Lotsa' practice, and learning to not fight the bike too much. Riding that stuff like that is a lot different than on a squishy bike. Learning to preserve and use your momentum, braking, and line choices, and being loose on the bike are a huge part.

A lot of people are really shocked to see just what and how a really skilled hardtail rider can do. I'm pretty decent on mine, and it takes a lot of people by surprise when they assume you'll be taking the sally lines/slower than the rest of them - and you aren't.

That said, I'd not be as fast as that dude on those trails.

+1 to Scrub. I remember doing a techy rocky descent here on my fully rigid Raleigh from the '80s pretty dang fast. You just loosen up and go with the flow. When (notice I said when) you get bounced off your line...be ready to commit to a new one. Let your arms and legs be your suspension.

I feel a little more "in control" on a dually riding the same line, don't get me wrong. I mean you see on some of that stuff where that guys is being knocked around a bit, but he doesn't let it ruin his flow...just stay loose, goose.

Yeah, definitely not fake. After you said that, I watched it a second time. Pay attention to the camera movement and that of other things (ie trees and bushes) in the background. Plus theres the audio.

The very first jump shows you the vid's not a fake. Look how the bike floats off the lip through the air. Nothing sped up about it.

Sorry bro I am not buying it. I ride on a pretty damn gnarly single track almost everyday and don't claim to have half of that dude's skillz but I know how a bike moves and I know how sped up footage looks too. So, sorry if I don't believe that is the actuall speed.

And if you actually read rest of my post you'll see that I said there is about a minute of real speed footage in that video is real speed and first part is one of those moments.
Like you said first jump he flows through the whole thing like coming down the hill and catching air, all flows but rest of it doesn't.

That guy has skills, no doubt there. But I went back and rewatched a little, and it def. looks speed up at seconds 48-53 when coming out of that turn. Next turn looks funny too, but not as bad.

Im still amazed his rear tire gripped through all those roots without sliding out from under him.

sucks that there is even the thought of it being fake from someone, the guy can just ride and probably rides this stuff often. I watched it again and don't see anything that doesn't seem normal speed. normal being fast like he is haha.

Not sure why folks are hung up about his rear tire not sliding on the roots. Fat DH tire + low pressure = much better traction on that sort of stuff.

As well, when you have gravity helping you on that stuff, it's much, much easier and faster than pedaling through it on flat ground.

Sped up or not, he has SKILLS! I personally think the video is real time. Although his bike movements are very fast (did I say SKILLS yet?), look at his arms, upper arms/shoulders. They're moving at a normal pace.

Also look at the way the camera moves. Not twitchy or fast. Look at his pedaling effort when he ratchets the cranks, looks normal to me.

If I were to ride that trail, I would be in full gear going 5mph.

That kid is a one in a million type rider. I ride with a couple of people on hardtails where I just shake my head in disbelief. It is cool to see someone ride a bike like that, but most people I see on hardtails are trail braiding big time around here. Scrublover proves he is not with his pics. This kid would ride circles around me and most people if he wanted to. I also bet he has ridden that trail ALOT, which helps too. That faster you go, the easier it is (within reason) so sped up or not makes little difference to me. Good video!
