How far do you commute.
I am just now getting back in to riding and I may also commute a couple days a week after the winter amd the time change. Just wondering those that commute to work how many miles do you travel one way. Thanks. I think mine will be around 15 miles.

Do it. Ride the bike. Ride it this winter.
I've been commuting for only three years now. Started with a 1.5 mile ride. Moved and it became an 11 mile one way ride, and moved again.. now it's a 6.5 -8 mile ride depending on the route.
Check the Winter Cycling Forum for tips on dressing for the weather. Not as bad as you might think.

Mine as of now is about 2.3 miles... however, my place of work is moving across town so the distance will be more like 15 miles once that happens. I'll still ride even then.

I'll be commuting through the winter but our winters are far more mild than yours are. I'm not sure I could do it in constant single-digit temperatures. I'd sure as heck try, though.

Don't know what part of the country you're from but try riding through the winter.
I'll be 60 very soon and I'm gonna give it my best shot.
My commute is 8.5 miles one way.
I'll let you know if I survive Wednesday's low temps. It's supposed to be high teens F (~ -8C).

16 miles, but lite rail helps me on most days. I usually ride all the way home once a week. I commute all year round, but then, this is California... I actually ride 45 miles most weeks.

17 miles, one way. My shift keeps getting changed at work, and every time it does, my sleep pattern is messed up for about a month, during which I don't ride...so I'm perpetually trying to toughen my legs/lungs up enough to do this ride more than twice a week. But I'll get there one of these days...

15 miles each way. Already thinking of summer when its more comfortable (more light) to extend the ride on the way home. Nothin' better than leaving work, riding towards home, and knowing you have time to detour for anothe 10-15 miles - Mental Floss!

15 miles each way. Do it both ways, or take the fixie and take the train back (I'm working on that uphill return leg). Or skive, take the van, but go to the gym to make up for it.

Nine miles, but I HATE cold (and I define cold as "can't wear shorts"), so I haven't been commuting as much in December. (I'm in Austin, TX; it's in the low 40s in the morning. Yeah, I'm a wuss.)

You need surprisingly little in the way of clothes, but if your route gets icy, you will want to consider studded tires. I wouldn't think dumping in front of a car would make your day.
I am riding on Nokians, they were $100 for the pair at Peter White. First time on ice today, they're champs. Accellerating away from the stop sign on glare ice, sounded like someone dragging an ice pick across the ice.
It was 20*F this morning, snow on the ground, 78% humidity. I'm wearing poly long underwear, poly base socks, wool socks, cheap poly running tights, a cheap lightly-lined running windbreaker pants, then up top, poly base shirt, Wal*Mart compression top, a fleece scarf around the neck once and arranged to cover just the front, and a windbreaker. Nashbar polypro balaclava (5-in-1), and some fleece gloves (not biking gloves, will be replaced, but they're warm). Goggles over the eyes (visorgogs over prescription glasses).
So, two layers socks, bottom, top, then a windbreaker shell, and a balaclava and gloves. I was cozy warm, only my toes got a bit chilly (wearing beat up old shoes in toe clips) but not bad at all. I figure this getup is probably good down to at least 10*F, maybe 5.
