Tube socks - yay or nay?
I like wearing tube socks with cycling shorts and jersey, but always feel that other cyclists are laughing at me. Even though I shouldnt care what other people think, and I've seen Armstrong wear these in the Armstron chronicles, I'd like to know what you all think about it.

if you don't mind them getting soaked with sweat and peeling them off your feet at the end of a ride, then they are fine. for short distances, i have no problem using them. my feet usually get pretty wet though, so a pair of real cycling socks works best for me.

Russell Athletics makes these moisture removing socks that you can buy for cheap in bulk at Costco. They are regular crew socks. I don't think you'll silly...
Then again, I did a tri with a $56 Roadmaster from Walmart.

Are you riding with girls?
No offense if you are a girl, however.

"Tools"????
What's got you all worked up 53?
It's about the ride baby. If you want fashion, go to a fashion show.
On the other hand, if wearing the 'in' thing and feeling like you look good makes you feel better and ride faster, then by all means feel free.
My point in all this is simply that I can't believe how touchy cyclists are about how others view them.
Ride on. Rock on....to your own tune.

I say this guy should lift some weights and show these b**** what his rear tire looks like via the 53-11 ratio.

well, I actually dont own any tube socks...I suppose if I didnt look too stupid in them, I'd wear them. however, socks are one of the few things that I dont feel bad asking my mom to buy me for christmas, bithday, etc, since all the other bike parts cost so much.

When in doubt, tell 'em to get you a nice pair of cycling socks and everyone's happy.
