Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Expensive ones that I ride slowly

Match #1: don d. vs. Lord Opie -- venues can vary, but we could start out with a no-holds barred, 1 on 1, 20 mile time trial.

Any more potential match-ups???

nah, Jamie's cool, but with her recent bout of stalkeritis, I didn't want to say anything to make her uncomfortable. And I have a history with the two ladies I mentioned, tho I do want to avoid a 'history' with their husbands

One of whom's about to become a cop

Me neither, I'm too old to take on the Dark Side -- isn't there some young, hopeful, aspiring Jedi out there who'll save us?

Yuh know, it won't be too long now before we know if he is real or not...he either shows up for the Markleeville Death Ride in July (?), which he said he was going to do, and is seen, or he doesn't show up.

I think there is a chance that he wasn't real until just recently when he bought a bike. He's talked about test-riding and shifting lately, and he hadn't previously. I also noticed that he didn't have anything to say in the "unwritten rules of a group ride thread", even when it had gotten to four pages, because he had never ridden, let alone with a group....it's easy to ratchetjaw about components by cribbing off manufacturer websites, but in order to write knowledgeably about a group ride, you have to have read about it or done it, and he hadn't....

I hear Markleeville fills up early, so he had better register first chance. I guess he can ride out there if he hasn't got his license yet and his parents are too busy....

Me vs Myself.

At least then, I am fully aware of the capabilities of my competition. This ensures a win.

I'll bet that black Aero-helmet of yours gets aweful hot in the sun. And the cape? Nice touch.

OK, how about this: We start at the top of Pikes Peak each with matched bikes but with naked rims and hubs. Lace up your own wheels (take as much time as you think prudent) and immediately take off down the mountain. First one to Manitu Springs (alive) wins.

Vader's the ultimate metrosexual.

Metrosexual: A hip, stylish male whose elegant taste might have once been assume to come from some sexual confusion but is not acceptable high fashion in the cities.

Can't think of any good examples off the top of my head...(other than Vader)
