I pay State Farm $50 a year for a rider on my homeowner's insurance to insure the laptop my employer issued me. I take it everywhere, including overseas. The policy is Full Replacment Value. Insurance is a gamble, like most of life. But I'm hard on things like laptops so it is a good bet on my end.

i ride to work (through manhattan traffic) many days with my nikon D70 digital body, several lenses, nikon speedlight, filter set and other associated gizmos. maybe about $3 grand worth of stuff.
admittedly, i do play it safe on those days, but mostly because the extra weight on my back throws me off. |

I wrap my abacus in old Rivendell wool jerseys.

Where else are people getting laptop insurance?
While I do not think I will fall every time I go out, I have learned that neither body nor computer are invincible. I have gone extended periods without teeth, would rather not go long without the powerbook. Not really in the economic position to replace it. But could maybe afford insurance? A friends got stolen recently. Bike accidents occur. oh, labratmatt, guess that's you...pm? |
things i learned today: they can insure ANYTHING.
