Rear Wheel Bearing Problem?

When I pedal I hear really fast clicking sounds. It sounded like my chain needed lube and that it was dry. So I took care of that, but the bike continued to click.. After removing the chain it turns out that the clicking was coming from inside of the hub. Should I take it to my LBS or is there something that I can do to fix it myself. I was told that it would cost 22 bucks to replace the bearings.

Could it be dirt in the bearings? Because now that I think about it, it is more of a crunching sound.

Doesn't sound particularly bad to me. Take your wheel off and turn the axle with your hand. If it turns smoothly and easily, just put it back on your bike and don't worry about it.

Alright I will let you know how it feels tomorrow.
