Choosing the right frame for single speed
Would this Fuji frame be good to make a single speed?

Should work. Do you know what size frame to look for?
|
I'm 5'11" so I think around 54-56 cm is what I would need
|
Thanks again hairnet
|
that's a decent frame to build up as a SS, but it looks to be closer to 57-58cm. That still might work for you though, so go take a look and bring a tape measure.

As long as it fits you and has any of the checked dropouts found here then you should be good to go.
Is it just me, or does that Craigslist image look like someone just stole a bunch of Fuji and Schwinn bikes and is stashing them in bushes in their backyard? Also, it really grinds my gears when people incorrectly spell the names of products when the correct spelling is on the goddamn thing they're selling. |

You should really make sure a bike fits before you buy it. Do the calculator, especially if you can't ride it around. |
Thankfully, the picture isn't completely ****ty and we can see that the bike has horizontal dropouts. That'll make things easier.
|
Am I seeing this correctly? The fork is standing next to the frame (not installed) and the steerer is cut down to about 2 inches? Funky pic or bad eyes?

Totally looks like its cut down and sitting next to the bike., could be a weird optical illusion though. |

Looks too "shiny" or light colored to be a steerer tube though. Might be part of whatever that mess is that you can see, just beyond the brake lever.
|
Just based on the picture, I would delete it and walk away. That is me though. Guys, life is way to short to be riding on a clapped out POS. Once some of the new people understand this, they will be grateful that they listened.
|
The fork is clearly still a part of the bike... It is a bottom end 80s Fuji, which will have horizontal dropouts. To some, working on this level of bike is unthinkable, but not to others. I had a few "pos" 80s frames that were easy to work with and opened up bike mechanics for me.
But if it doesn't fit then it isn't worth anything to you. |
