Kilo TT Size
Hi Guys,
After being a long time lurker, I decided to pull the trigger on a 50cm Kilo TT Stripper. I am a complete nooob but based on what everyone has said on these fourms and even the bikesdirect.com representative herself, I ordered a 50cm based on my height of 5'6.5 and 29" inseam without shoes. I understand there's suppose to be some room between the top tube and my crotch but my balls are basically hugging the top tube. Is this a proper fit? When I wear my shoes (Adds roughly between .5" - "1 to inseam), the top tube slightly touches my balls. I mean, I'll be biking with shoes on all the time I just want to know if I should return this bike and get the 47cm instead. Thanks alot! |
Dang, I always forget to factor in scrotum sag.

How is it nobody reads the clearly marked sticky?
|
Well, the problem is that the bd rep is female, and therefore did not consider scrotal clearance in the recommended sizing.

Is it best to ask for a refund/exchange or just live with it? It's mildly uncomfortable. |
Why is it that people who've been informed that top tube length is the only critical factor still ask questions about top tube height?

Just my $.02 but, think about how much you are on the bike vs standing over it. If it feels like the fit is good when you're riding it, I'd stick with it.
|
Wait until winter to ride your bike, the scrotum will be less saggy then and should clear the top tube.

lol

also you could learn how to track stand so you don't need to stand over the bike |
Either track stand at a light, or do this.
http://www.velominati.com/content/Re...1_full_600.jpg I rarely ever stand directly over the bike, perfectly vertical with the bike at a perfect vertical angle. Lean to the side if you have to. Perfectly acceptable. |
Get some of that special purpose ala' top tube protector if you're scared you're going to bust a nut.

Also, standover height is not a science. It's kind of a preference. As said before, you need to be comfortable ON the bike, not OVER the bike. I'm sized for a 58cm frame, however, I typically ride a 55 or 56cm frame because I prefer a smaller bike. It's more comfortable for me. Standover is a little low, most likely, but when I'm ON the bike, I'm comfy and that's all that matters to me.

Have you ever ridden a bike before? Why would you ever feel the need to take both feet off the pedals and straddle your top tube at a red light?

Mother****ers be trippin'.
What did everyone have for lunch today? I had a pork banh mi sammich, from a hipstery food truck. It was pretty good, and they didn't mean mug me for not having a beard. |
It's only 10:30 here. For breakfast I went out with the lady to an Argentinian cafe for cafe con leche and croissant with marmelade.
|
I just had a homemade egg mcmuffin dealio :thumb:
