Saddle competition! Brooks Colt vs 80's Selle Italia Turbo vs 90's Selle Italia Flite Classic
Which would you choose? Pros-Cons? For my bike I think I am going to finally try the Brooks because I am ready for a saddle that is the real deal. Loads of color options, and it's definitely got that same 70's era look that my throwback frame I'm going to put it on has. My second choice would probably be the 90's Selle Italia Flite Classic because it looks to be a similar comfortable shape as my good ol' fizik aliante seat and it says Flite on the nose matching same name as the bike lol. And lastly I would choose the Turbo because I already have a knockoff on the bike that looks good and I'd like to try the real deal. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=458745 |
Competition? Saddles are one of those things where everyone's gunna have a different opinion and there's really no better or worse one as long as it's comfortable.
I wouldn't choose any of those, I got a prologo nago evo and it's the best saddle I've used. |

Brooks sounds real nice but you do have to consider that it is sensitive to heavy rain. That would be a deal breaker for me.
Those old Turbo's are iconic. I'd probably go with that for your build. It looks right now. Edited to add. Didn't realize they'd been re-released. I like the brown. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...pstmtgotzw.jpg |
I wouldn't want to get one of those leather Turbos wet either. My Turbo was more affected by ass sweat than my Brooks has been by light rain.

I have one of those Turbo Re issues. I have been happy with it so far. I also have a brooks. The brooks wins on comfort and damn near wins on looks but that turbo styling is tough to beat. On your bike i'd get the Flite seat just becuase it matches the bike plus it looks good too.

I really like it on the Specialized, though.

What I like about the Turbo is that it balances the back of the bike nicely with the front. Now, assuming that the OP will be comfortable on any saddle, then I prefer this visual "weight" to a slimmer look. The handlebars are very deep and they look substantial. The stem has the bulk of a modern threadless design. Please don't take these comments to be critical of the build. On the contrary, I like it very much. But when I see that wonderful "hooked" seat tube, I think it is complimented by the visual balance of the saddle tail. Just as it shows in the OP's picture.

I think I may actually choose the Selle San Marco Concor saddle over the turbo. It has even more of a flare at the back than the turbo, although a little bit more pricey.
|
Are you really choosing a saddle based on how it looks? Best of luck with that.

Yeah, its gotta look good when it's parked at a coffee shop. Who cares how it feels?

What is wrong with the saddle you have now? Is it uncomfortable? If so - do not get a Concor Supercorsa, that is what you have now is trying to imitate.
FWIW my road-going bikes are all pretty old...errr...vintage, and I switch back & forth between a repop Flite 1990 & an original Concor Light that I swap around on them. Your ass may vary... |

Getting another bike with a different saddle might fix this situation. N+1 sir!

my nether regions love the flite. love love love

For retro saddles I like Flites, my Brooks Pro, and the Regal, but not Turbos. The Rolls is a similar shape to the Turbo, but my 'taint prefers its ample padding. Just can't handle the Turbo. I have no experience with the Brooks Colt and think they look goofy.
Just going on looks, I'd put a Regal, Rolls or Flite on that bike. In some kind of brown. |

the only thing a brooks saddle looks good on is a trashcan.
|
32h box section rims are like a flite. they look great on ancient frames with flexy 1" headtubes AND modern tour level bikes.
