Phil Wood ISO BB (103mm) + Sugino 75 Cranks

Hey guys.

Upgraded the bottom bracket on my bike, its a Phil Wood ISO BB (68 x 103).
I want to upgrade the cranks next (the bottom bracket needed done first).
Im really interested in the Sugino 75 crankset and I just wanted to see if this will work with my phil wood BB.
If not, What cranks would you recommend so I don't have to replace the BB again?

Thanks.
Andrew

Nope. Sugino 75 crankarms require a 109mm ISO square taper BB spindle. You should buy a BB to fit the crankarms first, not the other way around. There are not a lot of high end crankarms to fit the size BB that you bought.

I haven't found a single crankset compatible with a 103mm ISO spindle (and am unsure why Phil even makes that size).

If you want to use 75s and want to use a Phil BB you'll need either a 108mm ISO or 110.5mm ISO. Depending on what frame you have, I typically recommend a 110.5mm to allow for a little bit of extra clearance.

Isn't the Sugino RD supposed to use 103 ISO?

RD and Messenger (which are the same arms) use 103mm JIS.

Oh. Is there some double crank somewhere that might use those? It is hard to see how Phil would sell many of them. Is it just that it is easy to put different spindle lengths in a BB and so they figured, why not?

I bet that if you go to the Phils site they will not have ISO taper bottom bracket listed in 103mm, just JIS...
Are you sure you have your specs right? Not that it really matters since you will have to get a new BB for 75s anyway.

Good luck...
