Is this a bike good to start off with?
I've been riding a mountain bike for as long as I can remember, and recently, I've been wanting to get a road bike. I've tried my friend's Leader 722TS fixed gear bike, and thought it was pretty good. I'm looking for a fixed gear bike that is of good quality and fits within my budget.
Here's what I'm considering:
Schwinn Haven Road Bike - 2015 Performance Exclusive

Steel Urban frame keeps you in safe body position
Flip-flop rear hub to run fixed or free
Alloy Road Caliper brakes
Urban 700 x 25c tires add some width for comfort

Rear Derailleur: None

What kind of riding do you want to do? Simply commute or more long road riding. If you plan to put in lots of miles save up for something better.

I plan on using this bike not just for commuting small distances, but also for going around town. I'm assuming the most I'll be riding in a day would be around 30 miles. Is that considered "long road riding?"

What is your budget? That bike might be perfect, or all wrong.

Well, I plan on upgrading the parts of the bike as I go when I get more funds. For now, I just need a simple bike to start off with.

Well, then if that's the case, I guess I'll be purchasing this bike because I need one as soon as possible. Afterwards, I'll work on saving for a better one.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good fixed-gear bike in the $300-450 range?

If that's all you got...it's all you got.
Stay vigilant on your local craigslists, there's almost always some guy selling his SS/FG that he no longer rides. You'll get a way better bike. Although you may have to up that budget a bit.
