Help on Gears
I lubed my chain, but whenever I pedal my chain makes a slight clink noise. (It's probably created when the chain attaches to the ring.) But there's even more noise when I pedal faster and gain speed.
Any solutions? |
Constant noise, or intermittent? If intermittent, with every crank revolution, regularly but only every 2-3 crank revolutions? Random?
Constant clicking could be a dry chain or loose chainring bolts. If it's every crank revolution, it could be a bent tooth on the chainring or a bad bearing in a pedal, a shoelace hitting the frame or crank arm, a loose saddle rail, loose pedal cleats, etc. If regularly but only every 2-3 crank revolutions, it could be a tight link in the chain. Noises can be difficult to track down, especially via remote viewing like this. |
Gears? Thought this was the SS/FG forum :)
Looks like the above is sound advice with regards to things to check. One other thing is ensure your crank arms are torqued down to the spindle according to manufacturer's spec. |
There was a constant clink noise on my old russian bike. Turned out the clearance was so tight that the master link was hitting the seat stay.

Could your chain line be off? How long have you had the bike? Is the rear wheel off center?
