Fuji Declaration or Mercier Kilo TT Pro

Hello,

I'm trying to decide whether to get 2015 Fuji Declaration or 2016 Mercier Kilo TT Pro. I will mainly use the bike for riding short distances around my area (20-30 miles at most). The wide tires on the Fuji looks very appealing to me plus the fact that I could get it in less than a week from a bike shop 40 mins. away. I am however, unsure about the quality of the rest of the components on the Declaration in comparison to the Kilo TT Pro as I've read a number of posts here favoring the Kilo TT Pro over others when it comes to value. Would anyone give some input on which might be a better pick? The 2015 Declaration costs $400 while the 2016 TT Pro is $450.

I'm a click or phone call away from ordering either as I am itching for a new ride before summer vacation ends. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks!

Could you state why you went with Kilo?

I like money more.

There's not a whole lot left if i went with a Fuji which in this case is not simply better. You'll just be poorer I'm afraid.

hidden expenses:

- sales tax on the Fuji

- replacement tires & bars, possible mechanical service on the Kilo

Thanks for the replies! There's no tax on both (don't ask me how) and money isn't really an issue. Really curious as to which might have better components in regards to their price tag. I'm leaning toward tt pro at this point just takes about a week to arrive here. Sigh...

Why would you replace either of those immediately? ^

if money isnt an issue then why is $50 such a deciding factor? both of these bikes are garbage btw.

This would be my third bike and giving another to my bro. Would like to try single speed this time around within that price range ;)
And I don't ride that much so spending beyond that wouldn't be reasonable.

Spend more, you might like it more, and you might ride it more.....Just a thought, and not saying anything about either of these bikes since I have not owned either.

Soap boxes are slippery.

Those bikes are both fine, some people are just full of themselves.

I admit this is personal taste, but I rode the track drops and 23c tires on my Kilo for a week or so and found them not optimal for street riding. Replaced them with Nitto RB-018 with long track grips, and RiBMo 28c. I put the 23c tires on my old road bike and donated the bars to the co-op. This bike is my commuter/beater, and I've grown very fond of it.

Are you prepared to disassemble and regrease everything on the kilott?

marque 07-29-15 08:37 PM

Yes, I don't mind. Just couldn't decide between the two because I prefer the wider tires on the declaration while the components on the tt pro may be marginally better. I might end up getting those 28c tires if I go with the kilo.
