Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

From 21 Mt bike to 1 speed Mt bike.

Ok so I have an old Bontrager Privateer, never rode it as much as I wanted to, never had the time with 3 young boys. Now they are grown and gone so I drug the old Bonty outta the shed complete with the original Rock Shox. I rode it so little the original tire are still on it with a few purple Control Tech parts! I'm trying to simplify my life with a single speed Mt bike and ditch all the freaking gears. Ideally my wish list is a shock front end with disk brakes. Short list I know, but if I can't sell my Bonty how hard would it be to convert it to a single speeder?
P.S.
Still has Shimano SPD pedals and my old Shimano shoes hanging on It!

Email these guys. They're over in Kirkland....not sure how often you make it over on this side (seeing you're from Gig Harbor).

I saw this kit listed the other day. Not sure what else you might need. They have great customer service though/respond fast with emails.

Why not leave it in one gear and never shift?

that is quite a legendary mtb.

if it is still in good shape it might be worth selling the frame and nice retro components to a collector and buying yourself a new bike.

If you're over 5'6" i'd suggest at least trying a 29er.

I thought about piecing it out on Ebay, but would rather sell or trade it off. I'm a bit over 5'10" but have short little legs with a 30 inch inseam.
