How are handlebars measured?
I think I may be a ****** but seriously can't find a solid answer in any of my searches..
I got some new riser bars online that were listed as "42cm". Ok so 42cm = 16.54 inches. They are 20 inches wide. Am I missing something here? What does the 42cm refer to because it is certainly not end to end width. |
Did you try converting the 20" back to cm? Maybe that is the solution.
1" = ~2.54 cm |

1" = ~2.54 cm Description said "42cm wide". They are 50.8cm wide. Again, am I missing something? |

I just cut them down to 18" and put on some Oury grips. 16.54" would have been to small for me anyway. My shoulders measure about 17.5" so 18" is perfect. It's so weird though. Here are the bars I got, read the description:
https://www.purefixcycles.com/produc...iant=352155019 - 42cm alloy riser handlebars - 20" Wide This just makes no sense to me! What is 42cm (or 16.54") referring to? As the bars are indeed 50.8cm wide (or 20"). I even emailed Pure Fix directly. Their response: "those will be 42cm wide bars" They only offer one width of their riser bars so it's not like they sent me the wrong size. Plus right on their website is some conflicting info, i.e. 42cm bars, 20" wide. Either way, no big deal. Like I said I cut them down to a more ideal length and am looking forward to installing them on my Kilo TT Stripper when it arrives tomorrow (my old bike was stolen last week). |
Guessing they just screwed up their own listing.

And people wonder why the general opinion of Purefix here is crap...
