critical mass-milwaukee-Saturday-11am-bring your bike!

Meet at Beans and Barley (north ave, between oakland and locust) ride down farwell to wisconsin ave, over to water, around to prospect, up to north, over to oakland, up to the park just south of locust...on the left (west side of street)...bring sandwiches if you wanna picnic, or a frisbee or whatever else sounds like fun to you...i think I'll play on the swings, personally...

we all know what critical mass is...just show up and ride with us...meet new people, hopefully...get on it and do it!!!

to recap...

saturday (this saturday)
beans and barely
11am
ride!!! (cause a ruckus)
park/hang/play...

I don't know what to expect turnout-wise...never tried to organize one of these before...we'll see how it goes...I am pretty new to the area and it would be nice to meet some more riders...I see a lot of bikes, but I dunno how many kids are on here...any questions please get in touch...we are trying to find a house that we could meet up at after the park and watch like, breaking away or quicksilver...haha...it should just be a good time.

thanks

man, it's great to hear someone is trying to re-start critical mass in MKE. If I was there right now I'd definitely be down. I'll be back at the end of the month, though, and then you can count of me to help stir up support.

zachisageek 05-04-05 04:55 PM

awww man, I'm gonna have to rethink my saturday plans now.....

stupidvaghole 05-04-05 07:27 PM

If my bike gets here by friday, im there. If not I might still be thre on a borrowed peugeot.

zachisageek 05-04-05 07:36 PM

Shoot thats right, I'm injured, I can't ride, what am I thinking?

xthugmurderx 05-04-05 08:21 PM

haha, probably not...my last name...over a board? hmmm..prudhom, just playin'...i dunno if you know me...i don't get out much...unless i work with you, you'd sooner recognize the bike or tattoos before my name...haha

stupidvaghole 05-04-05 08:23 PM

Fair enough, ive been holed up in the suburbs for school for about a year so I get out even less than not much. My names TJ and not the one from racine, he stole my name.

xthugmurderx 05-04-05 08:26 PM

i don't know you..are you from milwaukee? actually i currently reside in west allis, at least that is where i am supposed to, i am moving to riverwest as soon as I get the time...yeah, if you can commute to said city easily, you live there...as far as I'm concerned...and i ride the 13 miles most every day..so there...hahaha...we should meet up sometime...riding is fun..

Only in Milwaukee would there be a CM on a Saturday am when it would be completely unnoticed by the public ;)

xthugmurderx 05-05-05 05:34 PM

yeah, we are going to shoot for more a usual cm time later this month,...and try to eventually get them weekly...it was hasty, what can I say...but riding is fun, and the more the marrier...you know how it is...

if you know any of the Wisconsin Bicycling Federation, you should let them know. Did any of you guys do the Santa Ride in Milwaukee this last year?

horay for riding on the Hoan Bridge, finding a wedding ring at the top and 40 or so cyclist getting pulled over by a Sheriff!

xthugmurderx 05-05-05 09:24 PM

i am not familiar with it, but I think i just registered for the ride to work thing they are doing...but I do that everyday anyways...how do I get in touch with them? thanks...

Good news, I got my bike today instead of tomorrow! So even if there isnt a cm on saturday I plan on riding all day/night friday and saturday to break her in.

xthugmurderx 05-05-05 10:03 PM

well drop by the beans at about 11 or so, I should be around...lets go ride...what did you get anyways?

xthugmurderx 05-06-05 03:42 PM

haha...we are gonna shoot for one at the end of the month, more toward REGULAR cm timing...if you are down to help out, rather than criticize you should contact me...(that wasn't meant to sound mean) I've obviously never done this before, and i could use the help...i talked to cory (the bike fixer) and he said if we get one organized, people will show up...i know several people that are totally down, and I am new to the area, so help me meet people!!!!

xtmx, I can dig your enthusiasm, and meant no offense. I am supportive of cycling and would also be down to ride CM here in Milwaukee. Just not on Saturday mornings ;) I thought there still were sporadic CM rides here on the traditional last Fri of the month, but I am unsure of their current status. It might be easier to try and rekindle that? I also try to get to Chicago CM as much as I can coz I like the freakbikes and the multitudes.OH.........and the Milwaukee Bicycle Collective is having an open house soon. Maybe even as soon as next weekend? check itout

xthugmurderx 05-06-05 08:25 PM

yeah, it is the 14th, I have to work...which pretty much blows, I'll show up for a few hours before...the current status of cm in milwaukee is pretty much nothing...but I think there is plenty of support...whereabouts in milwaukee are you kids, and would you be willing to go out flyering on bikes sometime? that is always a good time.

-jason

hyperRevue 05-06-05 08:38 PM

As I've already talked to Jason, I wont be around for this Saturday's attempt.
But...
Count on the last friday of June at around 5:30pm (traditional critical mass time)
I'll be back at the end of the month, and we'll campaign and promote hard for that.

AWESOME!!! i have cory (the bike fixers) support, he said he won't ride but he will totally hang fliers and what-not, not to mention his whole staff is pretty much down (but that is only 4 or 5 dudes)...I'm sure we can get the local bike dudes...my friend jon is pretty down with the messengers...and I know a lot of the old punk dudes from work...haha, it should be a relative success, i'm pretty stoked at the thought of it...
