New guy, 1st fixed gear (pics)
So I just picked up this '77 Raleigh Super Course.
So far I'm digging the **** out of it. Only thing is the seat is uncomfortable as f**k. I guess this is to be expected??? Are there any cheap seats that are comfy??? The seat on it looks badass though, leather, says made in Italy. Any info on any of this **** would be great... Here's some pics: http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psuy6ela0c.png http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pssyfv4m1h.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pshi0uku6u.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psxtztqx2s.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pswxphtydf.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps43k3yrwu.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psl3neejih.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psammon4ue.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psried4r6q.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psaqboxvgj.jpg |

Classy steel ride! Good first bike to start out with.
good luck with the saddle hunt. Totally has to be your choice. |
That name was given to me many moons ago.
Actually, I earned it!!! |

No matter how much Squidpuppet begs, please do not post pics of you earning that name. However, your seat search might relate to pitcher versus catcher...

Sweet ride, love the old steel steeds. You in NC?
Saddle selection is a very personal thing. What works for me may or may not work for you. It sucks but the only way to find a saddle that works for you is try different ones until one works well. The one you've got "looks" comfy. Is your rear just not conditioned to riding yet? It may take time to toughen up. If it were my bike I would put front brake on and ditch the rear, but whatever. Ride the crap out of that thing! |
I suspect you need to break in your back side. May take a couple hundred miles, butt do it before spending excessive amounts of money on saddles.

Kill Devil Hills, I almost moved there years ago. Enjoy your whip.

What idiot removed the front brake but left the front one there, and were they punished properly?

You paid $125 for gaspipe shoddily converted by a guy who doesn't know which brake is the useful one. Good job.
