Do I want a Cinelli Mash Parallax?

I need another bike!! The bike in the pic is NOT mine, I just wanted to share what the bike I like might be.

I'm strongly considering a Cinelli Mash Parallax. I LOVE the graphics on the 2014-15 white models, and if the bike "does" what I need it to, I'm sure I can find a leftover somewhere.

I'm looking for feedback from current owners, and if you're REALLLLLLY tall, that helps me even more.

I'm really tall (6'4" - 36" inseam - 36" sleeves - my torso is proportioned to my legs - 190 pounds).

My other single speed bikes have around 58cm c2c seat tubes, 58cm top tubes, 170mm cranks, 120mm stem +6 degrees, 42cm width drop bars. This puts me in a relatively upright position, and I like that for city riding.

I'll be riding in Manhattan, and this will be my "I want to fly" bike. I have a single speed steel Serotta for more comfy city rides, a cool commuter bike with fenders for crappy weather, and a custom Seven Evergreen for "outside the City" rides. My Calfee Bamboo has its own purposes!

Because I'm riding in Manhattan traffic, a more upright position is mandatory. I KNOW I'm looking at a track bike which does just the opposite, but I figure a 120mm stem +6 degrees should get me in a good position. I'll likely use a compact drop bar because the brake hoods will stretch me out a little, plus it'll give me control.

I LOVE the idea of the short wheelbase, super-quick-handling geometry, but is the wheelbase too short for a really tall rider? 58cm is the tallest frame Cinelli makes, but we all know those numbers are only a guide and the overall geometry is more important than just the size.

I want super stiff and super quick. I'll be throwing on 2014 Mavic Ellipse wheels. I'm hoping I can get 25mm Gatorskins to fit.
I'll definitely be using a front brake!

Questions:
I've heard there can be big issues with heels rubbing the chain stays. I've had this problem with some other bikes. Anyone experience that with this bike?

Will I be able to fit a 28mm Gatorskin using 2014 Mavic Ellipse wheels?

What else can you share?

Thanks!
Darrin

Judging by your stable of bikes (Nice Seven!!), just get it if it'll make you feel happy.

Not sure about heel rub, but this dude could fit 28mm Gatorskins on his rear wheel, you can probably fit one in the front, too.

First off, yes you want one.
I have 28c Grand Prix 4 Seasons mounted to Velocity Deep-V's on my Parallax, they fit fine. Not sure that compares to Mavic Ellipses.
I'm 6'2" with a 34 inseam, and the 58cm feels fine whilst riding it. It's becoming my favorite bike. I have ridden it with super wide risers, and most often with compact drops. Buy one, you'll dig it.

Whatever road/ track wheelset he is planning on running has no effect on tire clearance unless it is meant for 29er or fatbike.

Mavic ellipses still have the old tried and true 15mm width that is shared by deep v's and a whole plethora of rims for what it's worth. Wider profile rims such as 23mm archetypes and belgiums will run fine as the tire width is more spread out and subsequently it's top most point is lowered as a result.

I love the frameset and design. Go for it. Is this the model that everyone was talking about toe overlap? It looks like there would be quite a bit just based on that picture. Keep that in mind for city riding and quick maneuvering.

This IS the bike with toe overlap issues.

It's one thing to talk about toe overlap, but it starts to become a problem when it's foot overlap. Bikes like that are really only practical for riding on the track.

I'm guessing you'd get a 58 so I don't think overlap would be a major issue, especially if you're riding clipless

Clipless makes it basically an non-issue. When I run straps and cages I have an issue at low speeds on tight turns.

YES! Go for it! My tempeh reuben has been awesome but I think a multigrain wrap would give you better stomach clearance and increased handling abilities.

Try a rachel if you haven't. Goes great with a light beer.

You've been going to the wrong place Johnny! Go to a place that actually reheats their french rolls, uses plenty of pickled carrots, lemongrass, cilantro, fresh jalapenos, homemade hollandaise sauce with your choice of meat and you're in business.
