Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

6ku Review

So i bought my 6ku nebula black 2 months ago, the bike is not bad, it probably weight 13kg somethin, i can say the pedal is comfortable, i don't find the saddle comfortable at first but it gets kore comfortable the more i ride, the gear ratio is okay i think (44/16) easy to skid, and the tire is kenda kwest 700x25 tire, i burn the back tire probably after 90 miles ride, and i skid alot, i changed the riser bar to pursuit bar and i think it ride better, i can say this is a good bike if you just started with fixed gear, you can throw it, stratch it, because its just a $250 fixie! decent bike for starter 5/7

Good thing you started from the bottom. There's a lot more at the top to experience!

Guy I know bought one, well, kid I know and that is all the money he had at the time. Decent bike for the price. Throw a brake on there and stop skidding and burning through tires.

I have said it before and I will say it again: If you don't skid your tidy whiteys don't skid your bike!

Get a brake and actually stop instead of slowing down while wearing out tires and knees/ankles. When you are young you think you are indestructible but when you get older all that dumb shiz you did as a kid comes back. In my case in the form of frequent back pain from doing stupid things to it as a kid.

Cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles...are all horribly unpredictable and anything can happen at any time and I would rather know I can brake especially on a low end bike so I don't wind up in bigger trouble. Replacing brake pads is cheaper than new tires or worse surgery.

This. I always run a front brake. I have very strong legs, and am very capable of slowing the bike down on my own without skidding, and still like to use hop-skids, but the brake is indispensable for stopping quickly when you really have to. The cool points for running brakeless just aren't worth it to me.

Had a 6KU, swapped it for some rad art. Dude uses it as a polo bike now, which is probably the best outcome for it.

Fixed gear bikes don't have derailleurs, so no derailment here ; )

Not really derailed. The OP stated that he burned through his rear tire in 90 miles. The comments regarding brakes are valid in this case for sure. That does not include the fact that having a front brake at a minimum is also much safer.

Any pics of said 6ku? Thread is worthless without pics!

Also, how can you afford to go through tires every 90 miles? I'd never ride a bicycle if that was me lol.

Pretty cool. An actual two lane road specifically for bikes, illuminated as well.
