what do you think of crew district frame? i like the chrome one and actually my friend suggested me to buy unknown frame, is these frames any good?

I believe that's the City Grounds shop brand. They're probably about as good as any other cheap aluminum frame.

You're kind of jumping all over the place now. Originally you wanted a classic looking steel frame and not an Aventon type. The Crew District is very similar to an Aventon style aluminum frame. Even on City Grounds they list comparable frames and mention multiple Aventon models.

You're also going to need to buy a fork....most likely an Aventon model.

Not a huge deal but also remember that raw aluminum won't look like classic chrome you would find on a steel bike. Just a heads up.

AS for the Unknown, which model are you referring to? Again, I think they're all aluminum and similar style to an Aventon.

Scrodzilla will be able to shed more information on these companies since he knows the industry. There are so many new companies (almost always from Los Angeles) making similar aluminum Aventon style track bikes that I'm sure many of them are the exact same model but with different stickers. He'll be able to tell you what's decent and what's garbage.

Personally I would stick with a nice traditional steel track frame.

Wow, a quick look on Google Images and I'm seeing that Crew frame built up with Campy wheel sets? So spend under $150 on a frame, and throw almost a $1,000 wheel set onto it? I don't quite understand...

How does "Reynolds 525 Chrome-Moly" stack up, is the track standard steel just lighter, or also more rust resistant. I haven't had a steel bike since I was a kid, and now I'm constantly paranoid about getting it perfectly dry every time it gets wet, where water can get in, those holes for brakes that are empty etc. (it has discs).

Never worried about that with Al, for 25 years the frame is still perfect. Still a non factor with these steels?

No chromo steel is rust resistant w/o some coating such as paint on the outside or protectant on the inside. All steel weighs the same or about 490 pcf.

^^^ that brand really doesn't like short people. Smallest size they offer on any of their frames is a 52cm.

If you're small, have you tried looking at used Japanese race bikes? As long as you don't get one with a huge dent, you'll be good. Only limiting factor is you'll need the front fork drilled for a brake or run an adapter. Also the front forks can only squeeze in 25mm tires.

Just make sure to look at the top tube number too since that's more important. Don't want a 55 top tube 50 seat tube if you're small.
Also be sure to get one with a standard 120mm rear axle to make things easier since that's the standard.

All of those frames are very high quality lugged steel frames.

Not a limiting factor for me, I ride brakeless anyway.

And yeah, I've definitely been on that site. I'm currently mid-build already; but I hope to get an NJS Bridgestone at some point.
