Very serious question: Bike lottery

Very serious question: Bike lottery

Yes this is long but hopefully worth it/see the humor. Try to get through it. This could be an entertaining thread...it was fun to write it out and hoping others see it too. It's of course not "Very serious"

You win a $10,000 prize from some bike shop/company/etc.. not important.

Your choice:

A: $5000 to spend on TWO bikes. $5000 on EACH bike to spend in two week time periods. Total contest length: One month

B: $2000 to spend on FIVE bikes. $2000 on EACH bike to spend in two week time periods. Total contest length: Two and a half months.

Rules since everyone loves loopholes.

-Let's pretend you're given full paid time off during this contest period. Full undivided attention to contest (unless you have a wedding, you're out of luck)

-First bike buying period starts in 24 hours. You can't pick a future date to start.

-No taxes/import fees/shipping fees. If bike is in Germany for $4995 and you have $5000 limit, you can get it.

-ONE bike per two week period. Soon as you buy a frame set, that counts as the bike you're working with for that period.

-Money per bike can be spent ANY way. The amount for each bike is like a credit line for that specific bike. Pay with cash, credit card, business, private party... etc.. Instant access to cash/credit/Paypal etc... at any time of the day. Your line of credit can instantly be converted to other currencies if that's what the seller requests. No 24 hour wait periods, etc..

-Frame and components can be new, used, vintage, custom, etc... If you're related to the bike industry, you only get consumer privileges like you're an average Joe. No wholesale pricing, etc..

-Only get 2 weeks to spend on each specific bike. You CAN custom order a frame, buy all of the parts for it, and then pick it up in 6 months when finished. If you place an order for a rare part 1 min before your two weeks is up, that's okay.

-You CAN spend a full 2 weeks amount on JUST a frame set. If you want to build up the bike, you do it after the contest with your OWN money.

-If you you're buying a custom frame, any fitting doesn't come out of your budget.

-Can't use multiple time periods to build on one bike. If you have $500 left over, you can use that to buy nicer cranks for a previous week bike.

-Of course you can plan ahead. If you spend your total amount in 3 days, you still have 11 days to plan for the next build. Always cut offs in 2 weeks regardless of when you meet your credit limit. You instantly start the new bike/buying period.

-If you have unspent money, it doesn't carry over.

-You can always upgrade your bike later. BUT....

-Nothing you buy during the contest can be used for future trades/services/barter, etc.. You can't give one of your bikes away for someone to build you a new deck. Can't trade a a rare part you bough during the contest. You keep the bike or give it away. New parts come out of your pocket.

Yes, there is most likely more loopholes but you get the gist of it. Just roll with the spirit of the question.

What would you pick?

A
Two $5000 models would be dream spec or close for most people.
If it's something ultra rare, two weeks doesn't give you that much time to hunt it down though. Lots of boutique shops online. Example... Steel Vintage Bikes - Online Shop for Classic & Vintage Bicycles & Parts You can easily build a full bike from one site: Hilary Stone Featured frames

So many ideas....brand new Cinelli Supercorsa Road or Pista with full Campy? Vintage Rock Lobster mtb? Leader X Undefeated...?, That one Merckx you always lusted over? Ultimate expedition/camping setup? Troll with a Walmart road bike and Enve/Mavic Cosmic Ultimate wheel set/Dual disc.

So many custom frame builders in this price range.

Or
B...$2000 can go far if you plan it out and have time to make each dollar count. Since that's 10 total weeks of buying, you can plan carefully for upcoming bikes. Also have time to wait for specific models to come up on ebay (if you already know you want the best Bridgestone MB, you have more time/chances each period to get a good one.

Plus the variety. Vintage Hutch BMX or Miami Vice type colors Dyno freestyle bike you always wanted? 90's mountain bike (that hard tail/rigid fork pink and green Klein MTB you secretly desire), NJS special...dear god,THINK OF THOSE CLEARANCES, vintage Italian road bikes are CHEAP compared to equivalent track frames....it's shocking if you never priced older Italian road bikes. (Stuff like this.... Francesco Moser Super Prestige Pernod 1978 de Rosa Campagnolo Cinelli Vintage | eBay Yes, $600 buy it now)
That's common too.

"B" gives you a random stable of bikes for every occasion.

"A" gives you the two ultimate.

So tough.

Which one would you pick?
Also, feel free to throw out some of your choices. Not talking about overly specific listing each part.....but general like "mid 70's Ciocc Pista with white/blue fade"

So what if you want a single $10,000 bicycle?

I have a couple of specialized bikes that I'm using now, but I'm not sure why I'd want five $2000 bicycles.

Perhaps if buying 2 bikes, I'd end up with a $2000 or $3000 custom cargo bike, and a very fancy road bike. But, even with that, I'd probably keep the price under control for the road bike.

I'm actually headed to San Francisco in a few days! Prepare for a rice shortage in the Bay Area because I'm going to be eating burritos for every meal.

I would choose the bits for five vastly different bicycles, each with components that are unfamiliar to me, all with the intention of learning some new things while building up the bikes.

I would then break them all down and donate the lot to DreamBikes as a sort of fancifully fitting finish to the whole fantastical affair.

Two $5000 bikes.

1. Santa Cruz Bronson full suspension 27.5 MTB
2. S-works Sagan Tarmac frameset

If we have to return these bikes after the contest period, I will push them to their breaking points by doing things I have only dreamed about. Tarmac MTB FTW! Riding down those stairs at the elevated trolley station? You bet.

I would buy Luekybears Venge from him, put cyclocross tires and MTB bars on it, and go to my favorite MTB trail with it. Because, he has always wanted to do this and just never gotten around to it....

If that's the case, I'd buy a Focus Mares 105 CX bike, Dolan DF4 frameset and use the rest of the money to but a Westfalia to live in
