Leather Toe Straps
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone here use leather toe straps? What do you like about them? What do you not like about them?
I personally love the classic look and when bombing abound the city its so much easier when I need to get off my bike and walk around (no uncomfortable spd to walk in) but for years I wasn't able to find leather toe straps that wouldn't snap, stretch or slip. What are your experiences? http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=520081 |
These:

I never have had double straps but I have Christophe straps that have never broken down. For double straps you could try all city, toshi, cadence, soma or exustar

I had a set of Alfredo Binda laminated leather (nylon mesh between two layers of leather) straps last over 30 years before failing.

i like toe straps, been using them for years and will probably continue to do so. I've used both plain leather and the laminated straps and they both work well. I prefer the laminated ones, as I feel they hold up better and don't stretch as much as the leather straps, especially if riding often in the rain. To prevent slipping give them a twist or two when installing them, that keeps the in place pretty well. I've only had 1 strap snap on me during a hard skid and in hindsight it probably should have been replaced as it was fairly worn.

Currently using All City Doubles, no complaints thus far

As long as your straps are laminated, you will get good use out of them. Straight leather will dry, crack, and tear pretty soon.
