Someone mentioned it in Brandie's post, but it needs its own.

Its next Wendesday, the 18th.

Hey mods, I know you think this belongs in the advocacy forum, but this belongs in all of them. I hope you won't move this and maybe even cross thread it to Road and MTB forums. I know I never go to the advocacy forum, neither do a plenty other riders.

Please spread this around everyone. We lost too many this year alone.

Too bad for me, all the rides in Mass. are in podunk towns....

Rancid 05-11-05 07:04 PM

Start one-Boston has a enough riders, just spread the word and get a starting place

There isn't one in Philly yet either. Anyone interested?

FYI, there's one in DC, leaving from the Carter Barron Amphitheatre and headed to Dupont. Thanks to Theopowers, he originally posted the info for DC somewhere else, Road Cycling I think.

I'll be there.... any takers?

I would, but why the hell are they starting at Carter Barron? That's in the middle of nowhere and totally random. Turnout would have been far better had they started at Dupont.

I emailed the guy who is supposedly doing the Toronto ride...no response yet. Will post here if he responds.

Agreed. Not sure why they're starting up there. I know there are wednesday night time trials in Rock Creek on Wednesdays, (or at least there used to be) so maybe that was the motivation for the starting point.

Here is the Toronto Details:

Rain or Shine, this year’s Ride will begin and end in the parking lot of Waterfront Park at the bottom of Cherry Street, (South of Lakeshore Blvd. below Unwin Ave.).
We will commence riding at 7pm, in silence. Please be ready to ride no later than 6:50pm. We ask all riders to wear a black armband as a symbol of our shared thoughts and feelings. The Ride is about 6 km in length and will take us slowly eastward through the Waterfront Park path then east along Unwin Av. and out onto the Leslie Street Spit.
Once on the Spit, all will pause and the names of those who have died will be read aloud. We ask that all remain silent throughout this reading. Once the names have been read, the cycling will slowly resume, the silence will continue, and every one will return by the same route to the parking lot.
Please email the expected number of cyclists in your group to attend so we may estimate total number of riders. Email Dan at rofs.toronto@rogers.com with any questions or comments you may have.
Thank you. www.rideofsilence.com
