Because in the majority of situations it results in the most comfortable setup.

For competitive cyclists saddle level was part of Step #3 of 7 in a "baseline fit" for new riders on the track or road.
Why? It works for the great majority of properly fitted and conditioned riders, it's UCI legal and it's the known baseline to adjust from.

Don't like it? As always suit yourself.

Hi guys, I cleaned up the unrelated burrito posts. It was more burrito in here than answering the question.

SquidPuppet 05-15-16 11:26 AM

That's unfortunate.

I've been wondering about this recently myself. I have one bike that's been driving me crazy for a while. What looks eyeball level is me always sliding forward off the saddle over time. What sure feels like only one detent higher is definitely nose up in appearance, but I stay on without frequently sliding myself back. I've decided to live with what feels right vs looks right.

If it makes you feel better, my saddles, or is that seats, are almost level and you can PM me a pick of the almond and squid burrito you make tomorrow, you sick puppet. Are puppets or clowns scarier???

live on the wild side, break, or brake, the rules, and keep riding your bike with your saddle in a position that works for you. Level is a starting point, way off level is weird, but somewhere in there is comfort.

The exact reason is that it is the only saddle position you can post a picture of in a forum like this without negative feedback.

And valve caps.
I know wheel reflectors are safe...they still bug me though. Like the huge plastic plate that usually sits between a wheel/cassette.

My bike is jackass right now too. I need a more level stem with my risers. The angled downward Jaguar + risers = standard flat bar height.

Ok, I think I've invented a new bicycle saddleseat leveling system. If the rice in the burrito slides forward, you need to angle it upwards and vice versa. If all the rice pools in the middle then you have yourself a level saddle and will achieve many likes on instagram.

Can I find my correct bar angle using this method as well? How many burritos for proper saddle height?

Hogwash. Beans are heavier than rice. It would be the beans that slide forward or back.

The correct term is "dork disk".

I believe the burrito to saddle height ratio is 2 for French fot, 3 for performance and 4 for the eddy fit.

You will need a 6 pack of beer to determine proper bar angle, you should be able to hang the 6 pack from the drops without them sliding in either direction. Pro move is to buy 2 6packs so your bars don't twist when attempting to align your angle.

It seems you care much more about what your bike looks like than how it rides. You realize that getting a level stem will raise your hand position considerably, right?

Just ride the damn thing. Is it comfortable? Keep riding it the way it is. If it's not comfortable make changes based on your needs, not what the internet says looks cool.

I think the burrito filling's angle of repose is more critical than it's weight.

100% Agreed.

I pinched a nerve in my hand doing something completely different and noticed it's starting to go numb now on rides (ring and pinkie finger go numb and stay numb hours after the ride). If I max out the height of my jaguar stem, it takes a little pressure off my hands and I notice the difference immediately but I would like to go a little higher...hence a more flatter stem to begin with.

If I only cared about looks, I would keep the Jaguar...the Cinelli 2A and Jaguar are two of the best looking quill stems.

Swoopy saddle means the burrito will probably all gravitate towards the center, and the rice will all fall out of the cutout

GENESTARWIND 05-23-16 09:59 PM
