The mods weren't digging the off topic burrito clutter in the "serious" threads, so here we are. We have a "What are you listening to?" thread and a "What are you drinking?" thread, so I figured it was only fair to have an "Eating" thread.

Objective fact, burritos are the superior training fuel. Get the balance between carbs and protein right and you can conquer any biking challenge. They are difficult to bring on rides, but pre and post ride they can be a delicious super food. Bonus points for no utensils required, like pizza.

So, good, bad, healthy, sinful, savory, sweet, at home, or out on the town, tell us what awesome food or place you've discovered, or what places and chow to avoid.

I'll start. My sister is visiting. She brought a bag of Cocados (sort of a Toasted coconut/oatmeal cookie). It's essentially one half of a Taffy (Mother's brand) cookie with no creamy filling. She is threatening to open the bag and smear Nutella on them. I've begged her not to do it in my presence because it will be like eating a potato chip. Once you get started you can't stop. Sibling rivalry/tension. She's doing it to torture me.

Here in the south we have delicacies like the Moon Pie. Vanilla is the preferred flavor; we save the banana flavored ones for the tourists. The closer you ride to Chattanooga, the fresher they are.



And put away your stereotypes. RC Cola is for people in New Jersey. We likes us some Cheerwine with our Moon Pies. No cans. Bottles please.

Prior to WWII Hostess made their Twinkies with Banana cream filling. During the war bananas were rationed so the company was forced to use a cheap white cream (not even vanilla) instead. It stuck and stayed that way for 60 years. Around 2004 I was walking through the grocery store and Hostess had a BIG Retro type anniversary commemorative limited edition banana Twinkie display. $1.00 for a box of ten. I bought some and stuck them in the freezer. Because the cake is so spongy and low quality and the filling is 90% fluffed air, they never got hard in the freezer. They were more firm and WAY better than room temp.

Edit: Hee hee. I just realized that I pilfered the brake cable from this bike for another and it must look extra bonus dumb. Thank goodness for coaster brakes.

It is that ridiculous. And I know it to be so.

The thing is, I ride a lot of kilometers on a fixed gear bicycle every day of the week and my feet are strapped in on those bikes. After a while, when I hopped on the idiot bike to run a few errands, I felt immediately unsafe and out of control because I lacked the familiar sensation of my feet being firmly affixed to the pedals: Hence the clips and straps.

First cow: What do you think about all of this 'mad cow disease' craziness?
