Short Legs- Long Top Tubes

Having short legs with a long torso sucks. It is a frame shopping nightmare, in my opinion. Often it seems as though us stump legs live with racking our balls on the top tube or squeezing onto smaller frames. However there are some manufacturers that understand our plight, for instance All City, which I ride, and Leader make bikes with relatively long top tubes for their seat tube heights. I like this, my balls like this.

Recently I've been looking into new frames, specifically the Cinelli Vig, Heavy pedal Zephyr and Mash Work (I know it has nothing in common with the other two, but its sccchhhwwweeeetttt). These frames do not understand my plight and will likely end up ball bruisers or spine squishers.

On to the point of this thread- do you know any other manufacturers that build bikes with long top tubes and shorter seat tubes that fit the bill for a Vig or Zephyr?

The obvious answer is go smaller frame with a long stem, but sometimes thats awkward. The other is "who cares about stand over height, it doesn't matter", yea, I get it. But sometimes it does

Also, what did you have for breakfast? Whats on the docket for lunch!?

If standover height is a problem then buy a step through frame. It's the easiest solution.

Can't help ya there. I got short legs & short torso/arms. Sometimes even 49cm frames feel like a bit of a reach for me. My saddle is all the way forward on the rails for my Super Pista.

Also, good luck tracking down a Zephyr. Those aren't available anymore, unless you find someone willing to part with theirs.

You've been around long enough to know that standover height is not relevant to bike fit.

You're probably not going to spend much time straddling your top tube with both feet flat on the ground, right? Be more concerned with how the bike fits while you're riding it. Or just get a Hyundai.

I know Scrod, I know. I'm just looking for my unicorn.

I suppose I'd be much more bummed about missing the boat on the Zephyr if the geometry worked out for me a little better.

If you're interested in a Zephyr, why not shop around for an NJS frame? You can get them in a lot of funky sizes since most are custom.
Just search by seat tube size and look at the pics...it's easy to spot the frames with the longer top tubes.

Quick example....
https://www.njs-export.com/collectio...-metallic-52cm
56cm top tube/52cm seat tube.

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the Zephyr a rebranded Colossi al colossione? Of course good luck with colossi. Sounds like it might not be a fit for you anyway

I have the opposite problem. Most race bikes have short head tubes and I hate using spacers because they're ugly

Its nice frame no doubt! However as far as geo its no better than the others. I've thought about a tk3 before, though.

How short do you want that seat tube to be?

I like the geo on my Big Block 52x55. I see the Thunderdome has identical geo so that could be my ticket. @Scrodzilla don't you ride one? What's your thoughts on it?

I rode one and loved it but went back to a Bare Knuckle because I prefer steel over aluminum.
