Shimano 10
 

A thread on Compact Drivetrains in the Road Forum jogged my memory regarding the Shimano 10mm pitch Track stuff. I raced with a couple of guys who used this but couldn't remember the issues that lead to Shimano discontinuing it. Anybody remember or use this? Seems like a great marketing opportunity for the Road.

i have the group. i haven't found a frame worthy of mounting it on yet. apparently the basic idea was to make everything smaller and lighter. it worked, but IIRC, the UCI banned it a couple of years after it was introduced. i think a couple of the old-school trackies on the board may have more to say about it.

My memory was that it was the Keirin Federation that axed it. Found a pic, looks like a Road Group as well, I thought this was track only.

i've seen that pic before, i don't think the road group made it past the protoype stage, as i've never seen it.
