Mavic Ellipse wheelset

Does Mavic make these without machined brake walls?

Damn, didn't think so.

any ideas on a non-machined, decent wheelset that won't break the bank? Anything but Miche.

Just like Arechetypes and HED Belgiums, the sidewalls on Ellipses are anodized after machining. If you don't use brakes on them, you can't even tell they're machined.

Custom is the way to go, plenty of disc brake only rims out there that you can incorporate.

He's allergic to machined sidewalls, whenever he rides a bike with wheels that have them, he gets rashes in ALL contact areas. Yes, including there which gets the major brunt of it.

Aesthetics I suppose. The next big thing I heard are bikes without seatpost holes in the seattube.

Even though my black TB14s are fully anodized, I stay awake at night sweating and trembling because the sidewalls are machined. I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in years.
