Anyone going to the Philly Bike Expo?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Anyone going to the Philly Bike Expo?

This weekend is the Philly Bike Expo at the convention center:
2016 Philly Bike Expo
This is a great show that has a lot of custom bike builders and vendors that sell things that you can't typically see at your local shop. I live out in the suburbs and I am the only fixed gear out here. It is nice to ride down and be among other fixed gear bikes and riders.

I plan on riding down the Schuylkill River Trail
Philadelphia City Line to Phoenixville ? Schuylkill River Trail
from Oaks to center city. This is always a nice ride.

Ride Safe,

Joe

I have never driven there, but this is at the convention center. There is parking all over the area. It is expensive.

They off free, indoor valet parking. Basically it is a hat check for your bike in the lobby. Walk your bike into the lobby and hand it to one of the workers and they give you a ticket. The bike is put in a roped off area and watched by the workers. I ride in from the suburbs on the trail and have used this benefit every year.

You can park outside of center city then ride in and park your bike in the expo to avoid parking fees. Philly is not bad to bike in. Flat (except Manayunk) and many streets have bike lanes. Also the car drivers have seen bicycles before. Not always the case where I live.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Joe
