Explaining FG to folks

Anyone have a quick way to explain this to the uninitiated? Seems like to most people, any SS road bike is a "fixie." When I attempt to explain the "no coast" factor, their eyes just glaze over...

Just tell them it's a bike you can pedal backwards.

Have them go for a ride, they get it pretty quick.

It's like a normal bike except when you stop pedaling, then Zen bucks you off.

"You can't coast." That's about it.

If they don't get it then there isn't much point to explaining further.

I always just tell people, "If you had the balance for it, you could ride it backwards."

pedal forward and go forward, pedal backwards and go back (if you can.) i always offer my bike for people to test ride if i think they're genuinely interested and believe they have enough respect to not just drop it. most reactions i get are just, "but why?" some people will just never know.

I don't spend a lot of time trying to explain/sell it. It's just another variety of bike to enjoy.

You pedal forward, you go forward, pedal backwards, you go backwards like a unicycle. That you can stop by just using pressure from your legs on the pedals.

Talking to people about going backwards on a bike doesn't seem like it would be too productive relative to the OP's goal.

I usually say "As long as the bike is moving forwards, the pedals are turning."
