Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What chains do you guys use?

Any recommendations or thoughts on specific brands and models based on your experience?

I'm currently using a black 410H teflon coated single speed chain.

For fixed gear stuff I usually go with KMC. Was running a 710 before, now using 710SL because gold.

Yep, another KMC 710SL.

I use the nickel plated because it matches the bling.

The link is CL710 at KMC - MissingLink KOOL-710.

Yeah I usually run it a little less slack if I'm taking it on the road, but mostly I just don't really think about it anymore. Even in that pic it probably wasn't loose enough to derail.

KMC K710SL gold for me. Quietest chain I've ever used.

The gold version is coated with titanium nitride, which makes it smoooooooooth.

Miche Pista. Affordable, durable, nickel plated, and they smell good fresh out of the package. Don't ask me why I smell my chains.

New chains, fresh grease, old books, Payless shoe stores -- sometimes you can't explain it, but the smell is so damn satisfying.

Typically kmc 710sl but recently deviated to try out an Izumi and will be going back to kmc once it wears out. The Izumi is loud AF in comparison.

The cheapest KMC models (Z410/Z610) because they are dead silent, smooth as hell, never seem to rust, have a traditional master link, last well, and cost under ten bucks when it's time to replace.

That was the day I put it together after getting the frame back from the powder coater. Less sanitary now!
